1) Trump/Pompeo/UK disinfo on Hong Kong National Security Law. 1984 Joint Dec: "The [HKSAR] will be directly under the authority of the Central People's Government of the [PRC &] will enjoy a high degree of autonomy, EXCEPT IN FOREIGN & DEFENCE AFFAIRS." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sino-Brit… >
2) US NED-funded protesters trashed Hong Kong, beat, maimed, burn & killed Chinese civilians for a year while the cops struggled to maintain order & killed no-one. Meanwhile, US killed 1,004 Americans last year yet they're attacking China? Perverse.
3) A reminder of the Hong Kong rioters' brutality and slavishness to their former colonial masters. Lisa Nandy, Stephen Kinnock & others ignore these atrocities, instead inventing pretexts to build a war on 1.4b Chinese.
4) To the British establishment & a swathe of the "left", the only good Chinese is one who's servile or dead. No public debate, just endless propaganda from the liberal media. What country would accept petrol bomb factories in their unis?
What nation would accept this vicious racist brainwashing in their schools teaching their children hate and self-loathing?
6) Why is it acceptable for the British ambassador to omit from her thread the key six words from the 1884 Joint Declaration on Hong Kong? "... EXCEPT IN FOREIGN AND DEFENCE AFFAIRS." And why does the MSM keep repeating the lie?
7) Cui bono? If you want to see an actual oppressed people & not a geopolitical diversion, follow @swilkinsonbc who documents the 2m Palestinians blockaded for 14 yrs in Gaza, or the horrors inflicted on West Bank residents. Or see Yemen, or Kashmir.
We should not have to argue these serious matters dragging us into a possible world war. But the BBC, Guardian and Channel 4 News are protecting the US superpower narrative, relying on Yellow Peril racism to twist our minds. #HongKong #Xinjiang
9) Initially sympathetic to Hong Kong youth who saw mainland Chinese overtake them in education, housing & prospects, this was the video I saw last August that finally convinced me the protests were entirely without a moral core.
10) Know how many elections there were under British colonialism in Hong Kong? None. How many since handover in 1997? 23. How many killed & tortured by Brit military? Countless. FYI, HK Gov Chris Patten, salary £3m pa, was also BBC chair. NYT chief Mark Thompson was BBC head.
China-hating Guardian can't even report on the orchestrated Mulan boycott without twisting the truth ... again. Look where the Liu quote link goes to - not to what she's referring to. #USempirepropaganda #OpiumWarsII theguardian.com/world/2020/sep…
Contrast the tone of this report on the PLA in T-shirts & shorts helping Hong Kong residents clean up their streets after US-backed protesters trash the city with cops/national guard in Portland & right across America.
Here are some arguments from a part of the UK left starting to take this challenge seriously. I missed the event (is there a video available?) so thank you @BDavisBriz for the THREAD.
Correction: 1984 (not 1884). Sino-British Joint Declaration leading to the 1997 handover of Hong Kong sovereignty to China signed by Margaret Thatcher and Premier Zhao Ziyang 19th December 1984. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sino-Brit…
