“This is CA’s big secret: it’s not climate change that’s burning up the forests, killing ppl, & destroying hundreds of homes; it’s decades of environmental mismanagement that has created a tinderbox of unharvested timber, dead trees, and thick underbrush.” forbes.com/sites/chuckdev…
“Newsom said that there are “Hundreds of millions of dead trees” in the state & that it cost his father $35,000 to clear “a small little patch of dead trees” on his property.”
“Newsom didn’t admit it, but the outrageous cost to remove a few dead trees from private land is a consequence of California’s Byzantine environmental regulatory patchwork.”
That article is from early last year. Over 1 year ago they were writing about the reality of these fires. But today psycho tyrants are telling u how they need more legislation to make this stop. They’re the reason we’re here. They’re literally burning us to death with regulations.
You can’t cut ur trees down because trees! Clear brush because protected brush, can’t farm, can’t water, can’t freelance. See where I’m going with this? Tyrannical governance. We’re on fire and unemployed because of ppl like @GavinNewsom, @LorenaSGonzalez, @JerryBrownGov, etc...

I call BS on this and I'll tell you why. As a former owner operator myself, I know how this works. Owning your own truck and using brokers means you CHOOSE the loads you take. Don't like the pay? Don't take the load. It's not an hourly job, it's a per load job. 1/
There is NO way you'll be forced to drive ungodly hours because truck driver hours are heavily regulated by state and federal laws. You have to carry logs for every minute you spend on the road. And by law you are only allowed to drive certain amount of hours 2/
Waiting for a load is part of the job. Just like sitting in traffic. And guess where you have to wait HOURS to get loaded? Usually union docs where union workers have to take a damn break every 5 minutes and can only move two steps before going home. 3/

Tonight started off with a frustrating trip to the grocery store & then inspiration by a tweet from someone saying how "Many Americans don’t know what “no food” really looks like." And that really hit home. And I think that is at the root of my chill mode about this whole thing.
Some of you have read me rant about this before. My parents lived under communism and I was born and lived under a dictatorship for my first 10 years. Times were tough. One of my first memories is of being hungry. And not like dinner is 30 minutes lates hungry.
More like it's been 3 days and mom hasn't been able to find anything to feed us. The last thing in the pantry was rotten and we tried to eat it but couldn't kind of hungry. Tonight, I went to the grocery store and the toilet paper was gone, the rice, flour bread, gone.

Thread: Dear Independent Contractors in and out of California, I know some of you are having a difficult time joining forces with those of us on the right to fight #AB5 and #HR2474 #PROAct. And I get it.
When you believe that your opponent has a different set of core values than you do, it's tough to make that leap to work together. But I am here to make our case because #AB5 and #HR2474 #PROAct are so much bigger than left vs right. Let me explain.
In California, the right is practically gone. Non-existent. There is no way in hell that we can ever fight #AB5 and #HR2474 #PROAct because we are outnumbered in California. We're practically a one-party state. We can't get this done.

Thread: I think the reason we do not see eye to eye with defenders of #AB5 is that most people associate the "gig economy" with Uber/Lyft/Doordash and nothing more. They don't understand or know the range of industries covered by independent contractors.
From drivers to cleaning crews, writers, musicians, wedding planners, photographers, videographers, composers, hairstylists, graphic designers, etc. IC's cover so many different types of industries outside of ridesharing.
I believe that @LorenaSGonzalez and the writers of the law knew this and were intentionally vague about it to garner support for it. All they scream is Uber Uber Uber is evil and have zero understanding or refuse to understand that there is a growing number of
