Finally! On the back to school item! Staff here with an update. Staff is looking into outdoor tents and wood for benches from some outdoor ed motions from last week. 95% of families have responded. Got many schools in the Covid zones down 15, and some are at 20. Working on them.
Staff looking into French Immersion schools and where those students come from to see if the students are from Covid hotspots. Staff is now comfortable with the numbers and can setup classes. Staff working through accommodation requests.
Staff confident that schools can open elementary schools on the 14th. Student timetables coming tomorrow, secondary schools working through the weekend to be ready. Staffing spec Ed in virtual schools, looking to add staff there and French teachers. In person FI good, virtual not
125 custodians hired, 45 retired admins hired, 20 CYWs and 100 Occasional teachers. Occasional teachers will also work in the virtual school. We’ve hired additional lunch and student supervisors.
CFO updates that staff PPE received are ASTM Level 2 medical masks from the Ontario Government. 20,000 plexiglass units ordered for students in cohorts of greater of 15. Plexiglass barriers for staff will be looked at next. Plexiglass for admins will be installed by the 14th.
Air purifiers. Schools with no ventilation to be prioritized. Air purifiers to be delivered within the next few weeks. Hand washing stations are delivered to all schools that have floors with no washrooms. Ready for 14th.
Tents being ordered for Outdoor Ed. Site investigations/discussions scheduled at schools where they will be installed. Army has been asked for tents and install help. Asked city and local tree removal groups for tree stumps for outdoor seating.
Staff readying guidelines for CSPC covid19 safety related fundraising. Guidelines coming next week. Strings and percussion allowed in school. At home music class can continue. Staff looking into outdoor band playing with TPH.
Science tech drama and dance all being looked into with TPH. Virtual school has 23,000 students to be placed. Staff working extremely hard. Students will work asynchronously on an @ICEontario program “Becoming in Life”. It’s an orientation focussed on Catholic learning. #onted
We need 800 virtual school staff to teach the virtual school students. Virtual school admin staff sent a message to all registered students today. Staff acknowledges that students will still be connected to their home school. Virtual school is a temporary measure. #onted
All staff are required to have a google or bright space classroom to enable a seamless move to virtual learning should schools have to lock back down. Kindergarten team has worked hard prepping safety protocols for face to face ELP.
