ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಪ್ರತೀಕವಾಗಿರುವ ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯ ಹೊಯ್ಸಳ ದೊರೆಗಳ ಕಲಾಶ್ರೀಮಂತಿಕೆಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಲೋಪಾಸನೆಗೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿವೆ.
ಸುಂದರವಾದ vದೇವತೆಗಳ ಕೆತ್ತನೆ, ನಂದಿಯ ಮಹಾಭಾರತ, ರಾಮಾಯಣ, ಶೈವಪುರಾಣ, ಸಮುದ್ರ ಮಂಥನದ ಆನೆ, ಶಿಲಾಬಾಲಿಕೆ ದಶಾವತಾರ, ಪಾರಿಜಾತಾಪಹರಣ, ಇಂದ್ರಸಭೆಯ ಅದ್ಬುತ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಕಣ್ಣೆದುರು ತಂದು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.
