recently contracted a newly-built pilot plant facility owned and operated by CIMMS (cimms.ca) to further tweak the #li recovery process and the demonstration of commerical scalability.

@StGeorgesPlat #ecomining #greentech /
The objective of this R&D is not only to selectively recovering #Lithium but converting by-products to salable items such as fertilizer. Due to the selective nature of the leach mainly salt metals are leached out. Image
@StGeorgesPlat #ecomining #greentech /
The magnesium entering the pregnant leach solution might be converted to lithium magnesium alloys or high purity MgO. CIMMS has, in the past, done lithium and magnesium pilot plant work and imo is a good addition for this R&D.
@IconicICM /
has recently initiated a drilling program at #BonnieClaire which consists of 2 core holes and 3 RC holes. The RC drilling will provide additional samples for metallurgical testing by @StGeorgesPlat as well as expand the existing resource. ImageImage
@IconicICM /
The core holes will be used in engineering studies for a Preliminary Economic Assessment. The depth of the holes is 300-400 ft and in the southern portion of the project in an area of anomalous surface lithium values and interpreted faults. ImageImage
@IconicICM /
This is a unique & huge sediment-hosted deposit in Nevada. #BonnieClaire appears to be a new type of deposit that has lithium compounds like lithium carbonate and lithium salts deposited within the fine grain clay, silt, and sand pore space.
@IconicICM /
Even though the fine-grained portions of the sediment have particle sizes equivalent to that of clay it does not contain high percentages of typical clay minerals (less than 10% zeolitic clay). It's mainly quartz, calcite, feldspar & mica.
@IconicICM /
Elemental and crystalline analysis of the material indicated that the lithium was in a spodumene (LiAlSi2O6) crystal form and no chlorides were present. The spoduments found in the sediments represents approximately 3.2% by weight. ImageImage
@StGeorgesPlat /
approch was to separate all particles below 5 microns mechanically & with air classification without loss of #lithium before selectively leaching the remaining material as this helps with chemicals consumption and tailings disposal.
@StGeorgesPlat /
A reduction of 55% of the initial feed material was achieved. Additional concentration with Nitric and Citric acid allowed for the elimination of up to 96% of the material without loss of #lithium.
@StGeorgesPlat /
The resulting 4% having 99.9% of the lithium still present in the solution and being equivalent to a 25-fold increase of #li concentration in the resulting solution. Required leach time is less than 20min at atmospheric pressure & ambient temperature.
@StGeorgesPlat / @IconicICM
Based on the projects current average grade of 963 ppm this would - in theory - result in a grade of 24,075 ppm lithium in the pregnant leach solution after the concentration steps took place.
@StGeorgesPlat /
The R&D efforts are now focused on further concentration and the reduction of acid losses in the residues due to the moisture content of the material, often up to 17%, that the clay sediment carries (this seems to be universal to all LiC projects.)
@StGeorgesPlat /
This phenomenon (up to 9% more moisture content compared to traditional lithium concentrates obtained from spodumene hosted in hard rock material) impacts the recuperation grade for the lithium via filtration press (up to 17% lithium loss).
@StGeorgesPlat /
The R&D team will conduct scaling tests with a proprietary adaptation of resin balls that will allow the recuperation of the lithium in the PLS without filtration to significantly reduce the loss due to the moisture content.

is looking at opportunities to apply its technologies to other advanced #mining projects, in particular, ones that currently produce #spodumene concentrate (but have not yet decided to build an expensive tech plant for refining).

total of 221 m (726 ft); both NQ (7.57 cm diameter) core holes had excellent recovery except in rare sandy beds. Dark green #claystone, indicative of #lithium bearing #sediments, were intersected from 2.4 m (8 ft) to total depth in both holes.

@IconicICM could become a low-cost & green #Lithium producer with @StGeorgesPlat "Lithium-In-Clay" extraction technology. Sediment-hosted #Li projects are an emerging source of hydroxide (LiOH) and carbonate (Li2CO3) for (but not limited) the underdeveloped US Market.
The phase 1 confidential report is currently being independently reviewed and a final public summary should be disseminated by mid May. A Phase 2 progess update from @Steeltown12345 is also expected within the next couple days according to a statement from @maikan5
"Iconic’s material from Bonnie Claire has been further concentrated. Air Classification trials are on-going to tweak the process. Results will be integrated in the final report this month on the concentration portion of the process." 1/2

@Villithor12 @StGeorgesPlat @IconicICM Have you performed a PSD (particles-size distribution) analysis? I am curious what the actual % of sand/silt/clay within the Bonnie Claire sediments is. Separation of all particles under 5 microns is quite impressive! 1/2
@Villithor12 @StGeorgesPlat @IconicICM In practical terms, this means that - at least for now - we are not talking about an in-situ extraction anymore but some kind of open pit mining. Wrt byproducts pls let us know the actual K & B concentrations in the next PR. 2/2
@Villithor12 @StGeorgesPlat @IconicICM Being able to avoid processing potentially more than 80% of the clay/material should have huge implications wrt to CAPEX, OPEX as well as waste handling/treatment.

NI 43-101 RE highlights:
- 5.370 mio t LCE (Inferred) at 400 ppm cut-off grade
- average grade of the current resource is 963 ppm Li
- resource is open in all directions
- an additional 10 drill holes are needed to move the resource to Indicated or higher category
"Additional drilling to expand and further define the resource is currently in the planning stage."

I need to update my overview now that the shallow drill hole BC1701 is part of the RE on the Bonnie Claire sediments. (BC1701 is located in the vicinity of P3/P4.) Image
"Bulk sample metallurgy is currently being conducted by St-Georges Eco-Mining Corp of Montreal and results are expected shortly."

#IcelandResources has direct and indirect control of all issued and pending mineral licenses in Iceland. Wondering if more licences have been granted by now? Surface sampling of the geothermal clays in #Reykjanes took place in Dec. Work program 18 on the horizon @Villithor12? ImageImage
#IcelandResources
The 3 priority projects are:
Reykjanes Project (EL 01) (Au-Ag-Cu-Zn)
The Thormodsdalur Project (EL-14) (Au-Ag-Cu)
The Vopnafjordur Project (EL-05) (Au-Ag-Te) (Bi-Co-Sb-Se-Zn)
(a little bit) more information on icelandresources.is
#IcelandResoruces St-Georges’ flagship property is the Thormodsdalur deposit. "is prepared to accept offers of a partnership once the resource at Thor are proved up to 43-101 standards and currently has an NDA in place with majors and second-tier miners for DD purposes."

I bought shares in for two reasons. 1. because of the Eco-Mining Metallurgical Processing Solutions they are working on in collarboration with @StrategicMetAU and 2. the potential of Julie Nickel / Iceland etc.
I'd appreciate an update on your core business @StGeorgesPlat !
It's worth reading. lemanic.ca/st-georges-rep… In addition, one reason for @WeiTekTsai's investment in in 2007 was the nickel project. Patience is the key!
This is another article from 2015 about the Julie Nickel project owned by @StGeorgesPlat bit.ly/2IgE1A5 This project is in its infancy and a lot of work and capital will be required over the years, however IMO its worth every "nickel" they put in... approx. 48.6 km². Image
