Oh I forgot about the one from @TIME until just now—again, more beautiful work by @edelstudio IN 2017...
In the words of Maya Angelou, "when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time." Denying the obvious is humiliating and dangerous. This is an important article to revisit: npr.org/2016/09/29/495…
Those were several lawsuits in the early 70s alleging that Trump wouldn't rent apartments to minorities. Are we surprised? No. Also remember that on June 1, 1927 the @nytimes reported on a KKK riot in Queens." That's right, they correctly describe them as "FASCISTS."
His father, Fred Trump (listed as being "of 175-74 Devonshire Road in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens") was on the list of "prisoners arraigned." Trump was asked about the address in 2015. He replied, "that’s where my grandmother lived and my father, early on.”
He later changed his story, not surprisingly, saying that his father did not live on that street. The 1930 census would disagree. Here's a scan of that census. #FactsMatter BTW, Trump's dad was detained "on a charge of refusing to disperse from a parade when ordered to do so."
In Queens, 1,000 white-robed Klansmen marched through the Jamaica neighborhood, eventually spurring an all-out brawl in which seven men were arrested." This link includes the original article. washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/w…
It's absurd this is still a debate. "Antifa" is an idea, acc. to the FBI, but if it were a group, I'd be a card carrying member, much like the many pro-democracy U.S. patriots who fought the fascists in WWII. I'm proudly "anti-fascist," just like those POLICE OFFICERS in 1929.
No, @SenatorTimScott, Trump didn't "misspeak." Back in '29, you know why that march occured? According to a flier passed around Jamaica beforehand: "Native-born Protestant Americans" were being "assaulted by Roman Catholic police of New York City."...
"Liberty and Democracy have been trampled upon," it continued, "when native-born Protestant Americans dare to organize to protect one flag, the American flag; one school, the public school; and one language, the English language." Uh huh. "Make America Great Again."
There is so much disinformation on here right now about Kamala and her criminal justice record coming from both the right and left (plus, of course, the Russian agents actively sowing discord in hopes of undermining/dismantling our democracy). I'm going to do my part to make sure
I combat the countless lies as often as I can (not to mention the racist/misogynistic bullshit that comes with a nomination like this). Particularly insidious are the Berners/Incels who hold women to an entirely different standard; their purity test seems to allow for
many missteps by Bernie over the years, but not one by anyone else (and a total disregard for the fact that as a 30-year political veteran—13 yrs in Congress—he's not "anti-establishment," whatever that means). Nuance isn't their strong suit.
