#WorldMentalHealthDay
2020 is a year no one will ever forget due to the #COVID19Pandemic and it’s more important than ever that we have people to talk to when we need too.
I’m not ashamed of my #MentalHealth issues and what caused my #MentalHealth issues so I will share my story with you and I would like to ask that my #twitter followers to please #RT as far and wide to help me raise awareness of this issue. Thank you in advance.
I was 17 and naive I had just come out as being #gay to my family and I started talking to a man on a app, we hit it off however that was just the start. We spoke for a while and he was saying everything I wanted to hear
We met and very quickly I had moved in with this man.
At first everything seemed fine but it wasn’t because 2 weeks after I moved in the man told me “I would have to earn my keep” I thought he meant go out and work but this wasn’t the case.
The man actually wanted to sell me for sex with other men. I felt I couldn’t say no because this man was very frightening and strong and threatened people in my life and myself. He also made me cut ties with my friends and family.
I was forced into prostitution, I was beaten along with mentally and physical abused this lasted for a year and it hurt and broke me but I had to stay strong. I knew I had to run and stay hidden because this man would try to find me.
I became very much nomadic not being able to settle so I moved a lot around the country. However support for #youngmenandboys who went through #CSE and #Abuse was hard to come by and still is to this date.
We need to do more to support men & boys of all ages who suffer with their #MentalHealth because #suicide is still the largest killer of men under 40.
But we also need more support for men & boys who have gone through any form of #Abuse because if we don’t then support them now
In 2017 I founded the charity #UTRUK and it’s been run without any funding since then because #CSE of young men & boys still is under talked about but it’s time that we did talk about it and by just talking about it even if it helps just 1 person to speak out we have helped.
I know money for everyone is so sparse due to the pandemic but if we work together and retweet my thread and if everyone just donates £2 we will be able to help support more young men & boys who have been through #CSE by providing vital support services to them.
