I want to lift up this tweet once more because Lindsay’s analysis is 100% on point and SO important.

People have been parroting “cruelty is the point” to me for the last 2-3 years and on the one hand, yes, but on the other, it’s even worse than that.

1/?
What I mean is, in order to be cruel, you have to have at least some understanding of your target’s wants, needs, and desires. You have to understand at least a little bit how they think.

That’s what’s required if cruelty is indeed the point, and not just a byproduct.

2/?
In a sense, there can be no intentional cruelty without at least a modicum of empathy.

Trump has no empathy. None. Zero. He has demonstrated that time and time again.

He views everything as transactional, meaning: what’s in it for me?

3/?
So of course he thinks that only immigrants with low IQs would show up for their court dates.

Because he knows how stacked the system is against them and because he can’t fathom going into a situation like that himself.

He wouldn’t. You’d have to be stupid.

4/?
So it’s immaterial to him that something like 97% of immigrants show up for their court dates. If he has ever seen this number, he can likely just ignore it and say it can’t possibly be true.

Because again, in his opinion they’d have to be stupid to show up.

5/?
And you have to also think about the flip side of that.

He thinks they’d be stupid to show up because it would be easier to just “cheat” to stay in the country and live here undocumented.

Because cheating is all he knows.

6/?
This is a man who has never in his life has to face negative consequences as a result of bad decision-making or any other reason. And he knows this. He knows he is fully insulated from any kind of harm.

7/?
So when he seems someone who isn’t bulletproof like him, he truly can’t fathom why on earth they would subject themselves to a potential negative outcome.

Like I said: it’s worse than cruelty.

B had a cold this past week which means he wasn’t allowed in school.

Fine, since he wasn’t up for it anyway.

But now he’s better and for him to return I need either a negative COVID19 test or a note from his pediatrician saying it’s just a cold.

1/?
Or we can also return 10 days after the initial onset of symptoms which will be Monday.

This will mean he’s only missing 2 days where he would have normally been able to go pre-COVID.

But two days is A LOT.

2/?
I tried the pediatrician route. He would have to be seen in person; a nightmare for a kid like mine and scary for me since he can’t wear a mask.

Getting a test done presents similar horrors.

So now we have no choice but to wait.

.@AOC is doing the thing 🙌 #AmongUs Image
This is embarrassing tbh, these streamers are all voice chatting and saying basically NOTHING to @AOC
I don’t know who the girl streamer is, but she’s adorable. She asked everyone not to kill @AOC first 😆

The summer between high school and college, I worked at a girls camp as a counselor.

One day we were on a field trip somewhere and riding in a school bus. Those are, if you remember, kind of high up so you have a different perspective than if you are in a car.
Suddenly there was a commotion on the left side of the bus and the girls all started rushing over and whispering among themselves.

Myself and some other counselors came to see what was going on.
We then saw what it was they were looking at.

A man in a convertible was driving alongside the bus and jerking off.

So, that’s two debates so far without any mention of family separation or immigration issues in general, am I correct?

Why the fuck is this happening?
Dear @TheDemocrats: Immigration is an ELECTION YEAR ISSUE.

It should be an election year issue each and every time so long as we have cruel and punitive policies which rip apart families and perpetuate abuse, murder, and torture.
You know why I didn’t have to tweet the GOP about this?

Because immigration has been their issue for a while now.

The Orange Moron won an entire election just by scaring white Americans with the specter of Black and brown people coming for them.

Friends, I just talked to my Dad about his voting plan.

First of all, bless his heart, he refuses to vote by mail 😡 But let’s put that aside for a moment.

He told me he’s pretty sure he’s voting for Biden.

PRETTY SURE
By the end of the conversation, he told me he’s 99.9% for Biden, but not before I had several heart attacks along the way.

Heart attack #1: He said he wanted to see the rest of the debates first.
Heart attack #2: He said Trump has done some good things.

I asked for an example and he said he liked that Trump is demanding that the Europeans put more money into NATO instead of the US shouldering everything.

I didn’t even touch that for the moment 🤦🏻‍♀️

Immigration advocates were repeatedly screaming about this and no one gave a fuck.

I know of one case for example where a man was same-day deported from Otay Mesa, which had the largest COVID19 outbreak at the time. No test. No quarantine period.

theintercept.com/2020/09/03/cor…
Not to mention the fact that deportation flights continued unabated and no one was tested, planes weren’t cleaned, etc.

We are probably the largest exporter of COVID19 in the world thanks to our detention and deportation machine.

#AmericaFirst
When the borders closed and Americans were trapped abroad btw, @StateDept was supposed to help get people home and I know of one case where an American in a high risk age group was almost put on a plane back to the US with other citizens. A plane which had been used to deport ppl
