"Lotus In The Stone" by @anuradhagoyal takes us on a journey to the dizzying array of deities, temples, festivals, rituals, art, architecture, applied sciences & living traditions of India, that is Bharat, bringing us to an understanding of the society her culture nurtured.
Discussing the book noted author @bibekdebroy says: To appreciate and document this a person has to travel beyond the dotted line, to where history & geography seamlessly weave together in this land of ours.
The author is already well known for her blogs on travel and the #Indian culture which seems to have been lost from popular literature and travelogues in recent times. The book is available for pre-order on the @GarudaPrakashan website - garudabooks.com/lotus-in-the-s…

Do you remember Nisha Sharma? She was on news everyday for returning the #Groom & "Baraat" for the deman of #dowry!

She used to have boxes of appliances in the background, mehndi colored hands and a sad face for dramatic effect.
Based on her complaint, her would have been husband was put into jail for a year and spent next 8 years running to courts. He lost his job, his mother was suspended from her government service and his father died of a heart attack.
About 9 years later the court found that the story of Nisha Sharma was #fake. All the drama was staged because she wanted to marry her boyfriend. In the process, she destroyed a family. Media trial portrayed #patriarchy in #Indian society.
