#FactCheck
Firstly : Honorary General, not Chief. How can Chief be honorary ? A rank can be honorary in Army, Not appointment.
Secondly : this has been a tradition since 1950, when Gen KM Cariappa was conferred with this honor. It’s nothing new or ‘big step’.
Thirdly : Even
Nepalese Army Chief is conferred with Honorary General’s rank in Indian Army. Last ceremony to this effect was in Jan 2019, when Nepalese COAS Purna Chandra Thapa was honoured with Honorary General’s rank by Indian President in Delhi, India.

And it’s not Royal Nepal Army anymore. It’s Nepalese Army which stand around one lakh strong. It stopped being Royal after monarchy was abolished in Nepal after nearly 250 years. Before RNA it used to be called Gurkha Army, when it was established in 1768. HQ in Kathmandu.

As these fine gentlemen of 139th course walk through the Quarter Deck in Parade Ground of National Defence Academy, it’s a good moment to share something I wrote about #NDA long time back.

1. Being hungry is state of mind. If you missed your meal and

end up mentioning it, you’ll be made to do more exercise to forget about it.

2. Everything is mental. Only academics , academics are physical. If you don’t remember what is the answer to a question in exam, just shout your squadron name, it’ll come galloping to your
mind. Like shouting “Limaaaaa” in my case ensured I passed all my exams. Such battles cries in otherwise Peaceful and quaint exam halls are not considered weird.

3. Sports like hockey, football, basketball etc have a component called ‘ball’ in them just to distract you

Let me try and take a dig at the interesting state of Geopolitics today.
Pakistan is jumping around threatening others on behest of Turkey, seeing its arch rival India busy with China ( who has extended full support to Pakistan). Turkey has locked horns with France, Greece,
Armenia and one faction in Libya where it’s against UAE backed forces. Turkey is backing Azerbaijan against Armenia, but Azeris also get tons of weapons from Israel who are best buddies with india, who are also best buddies with Russia who is also friends with China. China,
is fingering almost everyone around the region right from India to Vietnam and can only be contained properly by US, where the outcome of elections will decide the China policy. China is also eager to know the results. US now has started backing India and gone ahead with BECA

Ability and plan to rotate troops is direct indicator that :
1. The deployment is there to stay.
2. All supporting (combat and non) elements of military will come into play, hence more infrastructure build up is sure and imminent.
3. Logistics are backbone of any military..
operation and deployment. Hence, by shortening supply lines, building more infra and having reserve troops at base in rear, China has indeed fortified itself better.
4. The longer Chinese stay in this area, they do gain in training, acclimatisation and familiarity with terrain..
in general, something Indian forces had a definite advantage in.
5. The build up region will now make China focus hard on this area, especially in terms of surveillance and Intelligence gathering.

Not that it comes as a surprise to Indian side, because these are basic..

India needs to get over ‘Line Thinking’ as far as #PLA deployment is concerned. While decision makers squabble over which line is the true #LAC as per Indian version, we forget that we aren’t the only claimant in this. Chinese have and will continue to enforce their versions ..
upon us. And we can’t keep crying wolf without acting on it.
As evident from this representation by @detresfa_ , the Chinese have decided to claim and consolidate the 1960 claim line which they reached till in 1962. India has categorically denied these claims but these.. Image
deployments prove that China is simply doing what it wants to.
Since they’ve decided to take 1960 line as the new LAC ( except one position ahead near Burtse in #Depsang ), India is left with two choices to counter this expansionism.
1. Fight them and push them back
2. Agree.. Image

Here’s an extremely sensitive issue bought out by @SinghNavdeep Sir. Physical disability is obvious and easy to identify. But the stresses of military service have started to take a major toll on health and lives of serving officers, which should not be ignored anymore. There..
has been a definite and worrying increase in cardiac arrest related fatalities amongst serving officers and its high time Organization noticed and took preventive measures. The stress amongst officers is never combat or war related. It’s the vagaries of ‘Peace postings’ that..
are real culprits. There is no dearth of competence n experience in Army; sadly the way gov needs to take care of serving men and women is not happening and that’s the latent cause of these health related complications originating from hypertension n stress. Add to that ..
