Here is a summary of today’s #COVID19AB update. We have identified 1,026 new cases. Today marks the first time we’ve seen over 1,000 new daily cases. I know Albertans are concerned with the alarming rise in cases – I share these concerns. (1/6)
Sadly, we have also learned of 3 new deaths, bringing the provincial total to 401. My thoughts go out to the families of these individuals and anyone mourning a loved one today. (2/6)
In the days ahead, we all have a role to play in getting case numbers down to protect our health care system, keep schools and businesses open, and protect vulnerable Albertans. This is our last chance to avoid more restrictive measures. (3/6)
I understand many are particularly disappointed that team sports and indoor fitness classes are also paused until Nov. 27. We need a pause on any activity that has a significant chance of spreading infection from one to many. (4/6)
I strongly encourage all Albertans to follow the latest Alberta Health preventative measures if you reside in a community on the enhanced list alberta.ca/maps/covid-19-… (5/6)
For more information on the new targeted measures that came into effect yesterday, visit alberta.ca/enhanced-publi… (6/6)

It is vital that our health system continues to deliver the care that Albertans’ need. We currently ask all cases of COVID-19 to isolate at home for 10 days or until symptoms resolve, whichever is longer. (1/4)
However, out of an abundance of caution, early on we asked that healthcare workers not return for 4 more days. After review, we have now decided that it's time to bring the approach for healthcare workers safely in line with that for all other cases. (2/4)
Health care workers will still isolate for 10 days after symptom onset or until symptoms resolve, after which they can continue their normal activities. AHS has been advised of this policy change and will begin implementing it, where appropriate. (3/4)

Here is a summary of today’s #COVID19AB update. On behalf of AHS I want to acknowledge Albertans & our contact tracing team for notifying 43K+ close contacts from Nov.6-9. Thank you to cases & contacts who worked w/contact tracers. We have to keep this effort up. (1/16)
Together w/limiting social bubbles, maintaining distance, masking & staying home if sick, the efficiency & completeness of contact tracing efforts is critical to stemming new cases in AB. Today, AHS is launching an online portal for automated texting of close contacts. (2/16)
Confirmed cases can use the site to enter info of known close contacts. Once info is reviewed by the contact tracing team w/the case, the tool delivers a text to close contacts & informs them of exposure & to isolate. The name of the positive case is not disclosed. (3/16)

Here is a summary of today’s #COVID19AB update. Teams at Alberta Health and AHS worked all weekend to fix the technical problems affecting our reporting system. Dashboards are updated today except our overall testing numbers which will be updated later this week. (1/12)
On Nov 8, we IDd 644 new cases. There are almost 8,000 active cases and Alberta’s positivity rate is now approx. 5%. There are 192 people in hospital including 39 in ICU. Sadly, I must report 7 deaths. My heart goes out to those mourning a loved one. (2/12)
There are active alerts or outbreaks in 285 schools (about 12% of all schools in the province). These schools have 911 active cases incl. 57 on watch. In school transmission has likely occurred in 123 schools (about half have had only 1 new case as a result). (3/12)

We have encountered a technical issue in the reporting system, so we will be unable to provide detailed #COVID19AB case numbers today. This has not impacted our ability to identify & follow up on new cases, only our daily dashboard. (1/14)
As part of our usual quality assurance process, the team discovered some internal discrepancies that needed to be addressed so I could feel comfortable we were presenting data as accurately as possible. Tomorrow, we will provide a detailed update for both days. (2/14)
I can tell you that about 800 new cases were identified in the last 24 hours. (3/14)

Here is a summary of today’s #COVID19AB update. I would like to acknowledge all of the healthcare workers across AB supporting our pandemic response. Behind every case is a long list of people working very hard. I hope you know your work is making a difference. Thank you. (1/12)

Here is a summary of today’s #COVID19AB update. More than 21,800 people have recovered from COVID-19. In the last 24 hrs we have ID’d 477 cases & conducted more than 12K tests. 130 people are in hospital, including 18 in ICU. We are monitoring hospital capacity closely. (1/10)
I must also report 5 new deaths. Every death, caused by COVID-19 or something else, is a terrible loss for those who loved that person. I offer my heartfelt condolences to everyone who has lost a loved one to COVID or any other illness during these difficult months. (2/10)
There are active alerts or outbreaks in 249 schools, with 730 cases total. This includes 111 schools on outbreak including 45 on the watch list. So far, in-school transmission has likely occurred in 87 schools. Of these, 48 have seen only 1 new case occur as a result. (3/10)
