After taking note of the "appalling situation" with respect to vacancies in the #NGT, Supreme Court to take stock of its earlier order where it directed Centre to notify all existing vacancies at one go, including the ones likely to arise in the next six months.

Additional Solicitor-General submits before the court that all appointment after being cleared by the Intelligence Bureau is now pending with appointments committee of the Cabinet.

Bar Council of Tamil Nadu today moved the Madras High Court seeking the Court's intervention in initiating action against retired Judge Justice Karnan for his derogatory remarks against women and the judiciary.

Justice T Ravindran remarked that similar matters were pending before a Division Bench of the Court and the Bench had already issued directions in the allied matter.

The State's Counsel submitted that a FIR registered by an advocate had been acted upon, with Section 67-A of the Information Technology Act being added to the other offences alleged.
