2) and if hosting a gathering, they recommend virtual or “Have a small outdoor meal with family and friends who live in your community.”
3) the reason we haven’t even seen the worst yet is because of death lag. All the surging cases so far this month won’t translate into deaths for 3 weeks — until after Thanksgiving / into December.
4) I’m glad to see the CDC unleashed finally and not giving a care / less care about political ramifications. I doubt CDC would have been allowed to “cancel thanksgiving” if Biden had not won.
5) “Amid this critical phase, the C.D.C. is recommending against travel during the Thanksgiving period,” said Dr. Henry Walke, Covid-19 incident manager at the agency, during a news briefing. nytimes.com/live/2020/11/1…
6) “We’re alarmed,” citing an exponential increase in Covid-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths. “What we’re concerned about is not only the actual mode of travel — whether it’s an airplane or bus or car, but also the transportation hubs we’re concerned about, as well.”

📍DEVASTATING ANIMATION—Containment measures 🆚 #COVID19 case surges and hospitalizations 🏥 by state.
Hospitals are now almost full nationwide and ICU beds will soon run out. Please don’t do anything to risk spreading the virus over the holidays. Please stay safe everyone. 🙏
📝VACCINE MIGHT BE BETTER than natural #COVID19 recovery for immunity. 36 days after 2nd dose of vaccine, titers for binding & neutralization are often substantially better in vaccinated individuals than naturally recovered patients (labeled as "convalescent").
2) The above figure from the original Phase 1 trials of the Moderna vaccine. Hence why you should try to rely on the vaccine instead of natural infection (ie don’t do natural plow thru herd strategy). nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…
3) What about the Pfizer / Bio-N-tech vaccine—do we see the same pattern?? YES! Notice how antibody binding and neutralizing titer again higher for the Pfizer vaccine than natural #COVID19 infection recovery (labeled HCS). nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…
Update: El Paso now hiring morgue attendants for $27.20/hour. But job applicant must be strong enough to lift deceased bodies weighing 100-400 lbs. (45-180 kg). Better than using jail inmates at $2/hour to move #COVID19 deceased. But so sad and surreal. 😓governmentjobs.com/careers/elpaso…
2) This job posting likely in response to the outcry from this video last week of inmates moving the surge of deceased bodies for $2/hr into overflow morgues. Still chilling. They now have 10 mobile refrigerated morgues.
3) RATIONING CARE—El Paso has been so depleted by #COVID19 that hospitals soon could decide who gets care and who doesn’t. EP begging TX gov for national guard, but Governor Abbott blocking so far. texastribune.org/2020/11/18/el-…
NO EPIDEMIOLOGISTS RISKING Thanksgiving dinner: I answered this NYTimes poll to professional @societyforepi epidemiologists— here is how 635 epidemiologists are spending Thanksgiving and the holidays. Vast majority just keeping to themselves. #COVID19nytimes.com/2020/11/20/ups…
2) I think the minority having dinner outside household are doing it “outdoors”. There was a survey of how one would have dinner. And outdoor venue was a clear option. Not clear in this tabulation.
3) NYT makes it clear the 21% doing gatherings are doing it safely outside and with masks. I took the survey, so I know how it was asked—a lot of detailed questions how. They just collapsed it for simplicity.
BREAKING—Georgia has certified its election results, upholding Biden victory. It is done. #ElectionResults2020
2) official statement of GA SOS. Now onto the GA specials.
3) A lingers question for Perdue and Loeffler now is if they should quarantine based on close exposure to Rick Scott who just tested positive for #COVID19 but campaigned with them both.
