.@GovWhitmer wants the #MILeg to focus on three things related to #COVID19 during #lameduck, which starts today.

1. A $100 million relief plan to support families and small businesses

2. Permanent extension of unemployment benefits

3. Mandate masks, prepare for vaccine, etc.
.@GovWhitmer: "The next two months are going to be hard. Too many people traveled for Thanksgiving, and we will see our numbers increase because of it. And that'll coincide with the next big holiday, Christmas, which far too many people are considering traveling for." #COVID19
.@GovWhitmer: "There is light at the end of this tunnel. We're going to get through this. It's going to be hard. But you know what? We're Michiganders, and we have grit. … We're tough enough to beat any crisis that comes our way." #COVID19
.@DrKhaldun says she's concerned about the number of Michiganders who traveled and gathered for Thanksgiving last week, and reminds everyone that we likely wouldn't see a potential resulting spike in cases reflected in data for about two to three weeks. #COVID19
.@DrKhaldun says Michigan expects to have its plan to distribute a #COVID19 vaccine available by mid December.

First priority will be front line healthcare workers, then congregate care facilities, then other front line workers, then general public by late spring.
.@DrKhaldun reminds everyone that a #COVID19 vaccine will require two doses, separated by several weeks.

Social distancing and masks will remain necessary during that time frame, and even after until the general public is widely vaccinated.
.@DrKhaldun points out that with a vaccine around the corner, deaths between now and then can and should be prevented.

"This is not the time to ease up. Now more than ever, we must collectively strengthen our resolve to do what's right and to take care of each other." #COVID19
.@GovWhitmer: "When Sept. 11 happened, the whole world stopped. … We forever changed the way we live and how we travel, because that's how we keep one another safe. We've had over three 9/11s here in Michigan in the last ten months." #COVID19
.@GovWhitmer on restaurants considering opening in defiance of MDHHS order: "I would discourage people from willfully breaking the law. … In this moment, we need to give one another a little empathy and a little bit of grace and recognize the gravity of this situation." #COVID19

.@RudyGiuliani, as part of his testimony to the House Oversight Committee, is questioning a "witness" he brought. Nobody is under oath. This is... not usually how testimony to committees works. #MILeg

.@GovWhitmer: "With the election behind us, now is the time for us to find common ground and come together. It's time for us, both as a nation and and a state, to come together, because we still have a lot of work to do. We have a common enemy. It's #COVID19." #Election2020
.@GovWhitmer says she recently sent a letter to legislative leaders asking them to codify MDHHS' mask mandate for public spaces.

"It will send a resounding message that every one of us has to do our part," she says. #COVID19
.@GovWhitmer: "The Legislature has said time and time again they want to have a role. If they really want to be a partner in fighting this virus, we invite them to take this step as the very first thing they do when they reconvene." #COVID19 #MILeg
