THREAD - CONGRESS' HYPOCRISY ON FARM REFORMS

In its 2019 manifesto, Congress promised to "repeal the Agricultural Produce Market Committee’s Act & make trade in agri. produce-including export and inter-state trade-free from all restrictions"

#FarmLaws2020 #FarmersProtest2020
Right before 2014 elections, Congress gvot asked Congress-led states to de-notify fruits & vegetables from the APMC Act.

In pursuance, Congress ruled states of Karnataka, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Meghalya & Haryana de-notified Fruits & Vegetables!

#FarmLaws2020 #FarmersProtest
Did you know?

UPA govt also formulated the Model APMC Rules 2007 for implementation of Model APMC Act.

After coming to power in 2004, Congress-led UPA persuaded states to adopt the Model APMC Act 2003 to liberalize state agricultural marketing laws.

#FarmLaws2020 #FarmLaws
UPA constituted ‘Committee of State Min. In-charge of Agriculture Marketing to Promote Reforms’ under Harshvardhan Patil, Cooperation & Parliamentary Affairs Minsiter in Maharashtra

In 2013 it proposed the following bill for barrier free markets:

#FarmLaws2020 #FarmersProtest
The Planning Commission in its 2011 report also over mulled the policy option of enacting an “Inter-State Agriculture Produce Trade and Commerce Regulation Act” under entry 42 (Inter-State Trade and Commerce) of the Union list.

#FarmLaws2020 #FarmLaws #FarmersProtest
In April 2011, then Cabinet Secretary while considering the Note for COS suggested to promote Inter-State Trade & Commerce of agriculture produce across States/UTs through the instrument of Central Legislation.

Guess who was in power? Congress-led UPA!

#FarmLaws2020 #FarmLaws
In pursuance, DAC in consultation with Ministry of Law prepared draft Bill titled as “Agricultural Produce Inter State Trade & Commerce (Development and Regulation) Bill 2012”. However, it was not pursued further.

So Congress also wanted barrier free trade of agriculture produce
Contract farming has been recognized as a chief enabler in various reports of the Planning Commission & has been implemented by several states under the State APMC Acts

The 11th Five Year Plan, 2007–12, released during the tenure of Congress-led UPA govt mentions:

#FarmLaws2020
Planning Commission report XII Five Year Plan 2012-17

“There's a need to promote both pvt invt & alternative marketing channels to improve marketing system of agri produce by way of direct marketing contract farming & setting up of markets in pvt & co-op sectors, e-trading, etc“
While discussing ‘Issues in Expanding Agricultural Marketing and Processing’, the 12th Five Year Plan (2012-17) prepared by Planning Commission during UPA years advocates contract farming!

#FarmLaws2020 #FarmLaws #FarmersProtest
Haryana (2007, INC), Karnataka (2003, INC), Maharashtra (2006, INC-NCP), MP (2003, INC), Odisha (2006, BJD), & others made provisions for contract farming under state APMC Act. Punjab (2013, SAD), Tamil Nadu (2019, AIADMK), Odisha (2020, BJD) passed separate Contract Farming Acts
In 2019 Lok Sabha Elections Manifesto, Congress promised to replace the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 by an enabling law that can be invoked only in case of emergencies.

The same reform, when bought by Modi is being opposed today!

#FarmLaws2020 #FarmLaws #FarmersProtest
Mid Term Appraisal of Eleventh Five Year Plan during UPA suggests reforming the 'archaic' APMC Act & abolishing the Essential Commodities Act to 'trigger private sector investment'!

Now when Modi brings it from paper to reality, Congress is opposing it!

#FarmLaws2020 #FarmLaws
UPA constituted ‘Committee of State Ministers, In-charge of Agriculture Marketing to Promote Reforms’ under chairmanship of Harshvardhan Patil, then Minister for Cooperation & Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of Maharashtra.

In its 2013 report it spoke of Essential Commodities Act:
Planning Commission in its 2011 report also mentioned about the reduction of list of commodities from the purview of Essential Commodities Act & recommended imposition of trade & marketing restrictions only during the emergency.

#FarmLaws2020 #FarmLaws #FarmersProtest
Congress & other anti-social forces have been vehemently opposing the pro-farmer reforms & Congress’ current stand & actions totally stand opposite of their past actions.

It is clear that Congress is misleading public at large & protesting only for the sake of opposing Modi!

THREAD: Can a wind turbine harvest water from air?

In a conversation with Henrik Anderson, Prime Minister @narendramodi discussed about harvesting clean water from air at places with high humidity with the help of wind turbine energy..

(1/n)
To overcome water crisis in coastal areas & villages, this technology could prove to be efficient. The PM further added that if the wind turbine could also be used for separating oxygen from the air, then it would be a win-win situation. He admitted that it was a challenging task
Air humidity can be absorbed & converted to water through an atmospheric water generator. Its a simple principle involving cooling the air to its dew point, until the moisture turns into drops.

This was done eight years ago by a French company whose name is Eole Water.

A thread on opposition's u-turn on the agriculture bills.

1. Parkash Singh Badal
Before Shiromani Akali Dal broke off a 22 year long alliance with NDA over #FarmBills2020, party patron Parkash Singh Badal defended the same bills just a few weeks ago.
2. Sukhbir Singh Badal

Farm ordinances were vociferously endorsed by him back in June. He also called out Congress CM Capt. Amarinder Singh's duplicity on them. But suddenly Sukhbir Singh Badla backtracked on his stand & started opposing the #FarmBills2020 now. What changed?
3. Harsimrat Kaur Badal

Just 10 days before resigning from Union Cabinet, Harsimrat Kaur was reassuring farmers on MSP, the benefits of the #FarmBills2020 & taking shots at Congress CM Capt. Amarinder Singh for misleading the poor farmers!

Mr @Swamy39 has claimed to be the last-minute savior of Ram Setu from an imminent demolition

How true are these claims? Did Swamy actually aid in stopping such an event of destruction? Did he have any role in Ram Setu case? Let's put out facts & you decide! 1/n

#BoastLikeSwamy
On 31.8.2007 the Supreme Court had issued an order seeking govt's response by 14.9.2007

There is no evidence, news article or any proof to support the fact that Congress would've demolished the Ram Setu & that @Swamy39 stopped it through court's order.

#BoastLikeSwamy
In Supreme Court's order from 17.07.2007, we can see that there were two petitioners in Ram Setu case:

1. Rama Gopalan
2. Subramanian Swamy

The petition of Rama Gopalan was transferred from High Court to Supreme Court

How @Swamy39 stalled the Bofors case to aid the corrupt Gandhis

Did you know?

In 1990, Subramanian Swamy, the then Law Minster in PM Chandra Shekhar Singh's govt., aided in burying the country's biggest ever corruption case: The Bofors Scandal

1/n
Mr @Swamy39 dismantled the key 3-man special investigating team (SIT), who were pursuing the Bofors case since past 11 months

The very next day, Swamy accepted ASG Arun Jaitley's resignation from the SIT which included Bhure Lal, JS at PMO & K. Madhavan, CBI Joint Director

2/n
KTS Tulsi was government's counsel as ASG under @Swamy39 & representing CBI against the Bofors case started fighting the case against CBI's interests.

K Madhavan, the CBI officer, risked his job to stop KTS Tulsi from the conceding Bofors case in favor of fraudsters.

The OutLiar @Swamy39

For years Subramanian Swamy has made tall claims on how he was instrumental in opening up Kailash Mansarovar route in 1981. He claims he was handpicked by Morarji Desai to negotiate with the Chinese in '77 & arranged for Vajpayee's visit to China in '79

1/n
Swamy claimed that in his 1981 meet with then Chinese President Deng Xiaoping, he negotiated to open the Kailash Mansarovar route, to which China agreed

Swamy also claims that he himself 'led' the 1st group of 20 Pilgrims in 1981

[P.S. Don't miss the translator in the pic]

2/n
In an article in The Hindu, Swamy claimed he was chosen by Morarji Desai because he knew how to speak in Mandarin

Many of his followers claim that Swamy was challenged to learn Mandarin in a year & he learnt it in just 3 months
