Many progressives label following of vratas as superstition.
Same will happily go back 10 km home if a black cat crosses their path.

Any sadhana when done over a long period of time (and if other variables are favourable) will give results.
Problem is if you don’t try to do it and cannot follow through with it for a long period... then how do you know what the depth of perception of another person is?

This problem of modern vs ancient is an old one.
Any vrata, any sadhana is designed in such a way that either: personal/tribal/community or world benefits accrue when performed for a long period of time.
You cannot do it... your problem.
Calling it blind belief hurts you.

A small story..: from Dhankawdi in Pune.
A person was sleeping under a tree as he was wont to do every day. One day he had a dream, Dattatreya appeared and said that if you do x and y, I will give you something... mind you the person did no sadhana before this.

He asked for the gift of clairvoyance and loksewa through it and Datta sannidhi.
Since that day 40 years ago, every Thursday the person used to sit and give perfect advice to thousands.

The stories are impossible... but ask any doctor from that time from Sassoon and they will tell you ... virtually impossible to understand or rationalise... that’s what Ishwar is..
