We should not allow free and fair elections in Georgia to be undermined by baseless and unproven claims of fraud. 1/14 #gapol
Those who have echoed election fraud conspiracies without evidence under the guise of “election integrity” for years have laid the groundwork for this culture of fear and intimidation. 2/14
The Republican Party must shut down their disinformation narratives and conspiracy theories that are endangering the lives of Georgians. 3/14
Black and Brown voters in Georgia have been subjected to false claims of voter fraud and voter fraud disinformation tactics for decades in attempts to intimidate, suppress, and depress voter participation, which has caused evergreen fear in these communities of being…4/14
…arrested or punished for using their constitutional right to participate in our democracy. Here in Georgia, our Republican elected officials have consistently and directly fed voter fraud narratives and fears for political purposes. 5/14
Worse, they have used those narratives to push the prosecution and intimidation of voters of color, including raiding Asian-American-led voter registration offices, sending police officers to Black voters’ homes in Sparta, and incarcerating Black voters in Quitman. 6/14
The Georgia Secretary of State office’s long and shameful history of abusing its power to intimidate and suppress political opponents must end. 7/14
The current GOP created this democracy disinformation propaganda strategy as a way to suppress enough votes on the margins to try and win the November election. But this cynical and dangerous strategy backfired on them, infecting their own party and voters. 8/14
Trump’s deputy campaign manager, Justin Clark, over a year ago clearly laid out the plan to intentionally escalate and broadcast small issues or mistakes that election administrators or voters made as “evidence” of widespread voter fraud. 9/14
We will continue to fight back against baseless and blatantly partisan attempts to undermine voting rights and restrict ballot access. Widespread voter fraud is a malicious myth. 10/14
Voter suppression, however, is real, and we must not allow conspiracy-bloated narratives to inflict unnecessary and harmful restrictions on voting. 11/14
Voters have spoken, and we must not allow bad actors to undermine the legitimacy of our system and incite dangerous rhetoric and threats against election officials, election workers, advocates, and voters. 12/14
Plainly put, any official who acts to legitimize these baseless attacks through shameful efforts or self-serving silence is complicit in an architecture of voter suppression and propaganda. 13/14

THREAD: With the @GOP and @realdonaldtrump voter suppression machine in force spreading disinformation on voting in 2020, it is critical we debunk and correct the record without bolstering their platform of lies. Here is some guidance on responding to online disinformation. 1/
Do Not Retweet or Quote Tweet Trump: Doing so will amplify disinformation even if you are attempting to debunk it. Research shows this can be highly ineffective if initial disinformation is also featured prominently. 2/
Do Not Repeat Baseless Vote-By-Mail Information: Voting by mail is safe and secure. We should be expanding access to the ballot, not making it harder for people to vote during a pandemic. 3/
This weekend, Trump launched a $457,000 advertising blitz in 5 markets throughout Georgia. His failed leadership on COVID/economy and the toxic GOP brand in a changed Georgia has put him on the ropes here.
Republicans are scared of the strong Democratic efforts being waged at all levels in Georgia. Don't take our word for it -- @BrianKempGA, Speaker David Ralston, and @sendavidperdue have stated that GA is in play. DC Republicans express "increasing worry."
For the past few weeks, Fair Fight Action has watched Georgia’s legislative leaders respond to the murders of #RayshardBrooks and #AhmaudArbery, as well as violence toward those demanding justice in our streets.
We were deeply disturbed by Senate Republicans' attempts to ruin a bipartisan hate crimes bill by adding law enforcement protections due to the fact that solid police protections already exist in Georgia law.
After immense pressure from our allies, Senate Republicans decided to remove the law enforcement protections from the hate crimes bill and insert it into another bill, HB 838, rather than break away from the amendment completely.
THREAD: Contrary to what the @GaSecofState is saying, voters in counties across the state of Georgia are paying the price at the polls for his incompetence and malfeasance. Here’s just a short sampling:
.@GASecofState MYTH: Problems were only in Fulton County.
REALITY: In Macon-Bibb, local news reported technical problems with new voting machines, causing delays for voters waiting in line to vote.
.@GASecofState MYTH: Problems were only in Fulton County.
REALITY: Also in Macon-Bibb, voters who were given emergency paper ballots received ballots with incorrect races on them:
THREAD: The Voter Suppressor in Chief, @GovKemp is once again using his office to deny hundreds of thousands of Georgians a free and a fair election. This time his victims are the people of Athens and Oconee counties. 1/ classiccitynews.com/post/a-da-race…
Fair Fight Action is demanding that Governor* Kemp appoint a District Attorney by Saturday, May 2 to avoid suppressing the constitutional right of Georgians. 2/
It’s imperative the citizens of both Athens and Oconee county get to choose their next District Attorney and not have an unelected placeholder until 2022. Fair Fight stands ready with @dg4da and the citizens of Athens and Oconee County to put and end to voter suppression. 3/
After 37 Governors took statewide action, @GovKemp decided to order a 10-day-only shelter in place. While this is a good first step, we are looking forward to reading the executive order. In the meantime, here is what Brian Kemp did not address during his press conference:
1. @GovKemp did not fully expand Medicaid, which would save our rural hospitals, create jobs and immediately cover half a million Georgians who are currently uninsured.
2. @GovKemp told renters he was sure their landlords would be “willing to work with ya” if they cannot afford rent rather than sharing assistance resources for both tenants and landlords.
