Last night, the #US Senate just said Trump can send $23 billion in sophisticated weapons to the #UAE, including #F35s, Reaper drones, and munitions. The UAE is a leading driver of violence in the #Yemen & have helped push millions to the brink of famine. #YemenCantWait
The #UAE has also been arming Al Qaeda affiliates and other militias in Yemen with US made weapons. The silver lining is that most Dems voted against and that Biden has the chance to block delivery of these deadly weapons in the new year. #YemenCantWait
I was hopeful that some of the more outspoken Rs on human rights issues would do the right thing. But I was sorely mistaken. I'm most upset with the Senator Sinema and Kelley from AZ, who voted against their own party and with @senatemajldr to support these sales. Shameful!
I really want to know... if the Senators who voted no had a chance to speak with any real live Yemenis before this vote about what these drone sales, or did they just hear from folks like Gen Mattis, Jared Kushner, the UAE ambassador, and Raytheon? #Yemencantwait
These lawmakers just voted to arm one of the worlds leading human rights abusers with billions worth of the deadliest weapons known to humankind. They should be ashamed of themselves. #YemenCantWait

Going on 6 years of war & 4 years of @realDonaldTrump's disregard for the lives of millions of Yemenis, @JoeBiden has promised a policy reset. He's repeatedly called for an end to US participation & weapons in the #Yemen war. #YemenCantWait
To end U.S. complicity in this war, @JoeBiden must start his policy reset on day one by stopping weapons deliveries to the Saudi-UAE coalition, including Trump’s recently proposed $23 billion sale to the #UAE. #YemenCantWait#StopArmingUAE
@JoeBiden must work with Congress to pass a Yemen War Powers Resolution prohibiting intel sharing, logistical support & spare parts transfers for coalition airstrikes. Such a demonstration of support from Congress will help Biden pressure warring parties to end the violence.
I'm disappointed the Senate failed to pass bipartisan measures to block the sale of billions of dollars worth of advanced weaponry to the UAE.
While the vote today came up short, what’s clear is that there is strong bipartisan opposition to these rushed sales, which includes nearly every Democrat in the U.S. Senate. @JoeBiden should heed this bipartisan message and block delivery of these weapons after taking office.
The UAE has played leading role in the Saudi-UAE led coalition’s bombardment and blockade of Yemen since 2015, which has pushed millions of to the brink of famine.
