@RTDMPW Your assertions about what Virginians taught, believed rely on inaccurate reports like the one on Virginia textbooks based on a magazine article written by nonVirginians about what they WANT to infer about this Commonwealth to gain some sense of power by disparaging VA
2 You viciously assert that Richmond & Virginians deny slavery, hide it. I am a witness to the history about which you & Wilson claim to know, have been in #RVA 5 decades. I need to describe an eye witness account of RVA history. Hatred is not just the purview of Trump MAGAhats
3. I had the 4th grade text, which showed 1619 events, including first Africans in VA shown bound together as they disembarked the ship atJamestown. No one glossed over the fact they were bound. Other assertions in that article are incorrect. People were called servants or family
4 Actual blood relatives were called “kin” Affluent families often did dress their servants well when traveling. Truth is often complex, but it is important to stick to facts that can be documented and that are relevant to the narrative. You quote a NC judge from 100 years ago.
5. There was an 1866 book about a “cause lost”, siezed by those who wish to promote a “Lost Cause” narrative. That was never taught in the history books I studied. Noone ever used such a term or talked about it. This is a fiction to malign this Commonwealth. Mass resistance, yes
6. Voter suppression? That’s a fact. Ive worked 5 decades in #RVA for voting rights. I was involved with the deannexation case. I know RVA and Va history the past 6 decades. But no lost cause narrative. The south won? I read widely, & have seen no evidence of this claim
7. I must admit I never saw or ever HEARD OF ANYONE actually painting their faces black as @GovernorVA photos show & admitted by @AGMarkHerring It’s appalling. But I do know that since 2000, there have been actions of which you & other newcomers seem unaware.
8/ FYI Greater Richmond Interfaith Group led RVA in this international effort 2005-2007 Liverpool - Benin -Richmond reported by @NBC12 Black History Month: Honoring the Richmond Slavery Reconciliation Statue
#https://t.co/4Ne8iaeOca
9/ Not a new idea Former Governor of Virginia, Bob McDonnell, committed 11 million dollars in state funds toward the 30-plus million needed to build a National Museum of Slavery in the Shockoe Bottom, in Richmond, Virginia. This is where Stoney got the idea. It’s not new
9/ There’s a museum in Jackson Ward, there have been documentaries. @VirginiaMuseum has exhibits & extensive records. No secret Nothing hidden. Grievance has similar effects in the brain to addiction. A similar high is involved. Many traffic in it too.
Actually the Interfaith effort was parallel the international effort with Liverpool. And Bob McDonnell’s commitment was a few years after. There has simply been no coverup of this history. It’s common knowledge. I guess some journos need to invent stories @RTDOpinions

Read these reports and view videos from those with the experience of legalization -In poor neighborhoods of Denver, there are pot shops for every 47 residents. #SocialJustice is NOT legalizing pot but decriminalize, as GA did last spring. @DonScott757
Just to decode Thune’s remarks for you: “Spending” means cutting spending, “entitlement reform” means cuts to programs such as food stamps & Medicaid, and “growth & the economy” means hampering growth and sabotaging the economy. @SenateDems@johnthune@JoeBiden@WSJ@Forbes
By attacking America's economy, they take food off families’ tables, force cutbacks in state & local services, punish small businesses & create a vicious cycle of austerity & anemic recovery in the rest of the country, hoping Americans blame Biden for all of it. @SpeakerPelosi
These are permanent hits to VA economy, does NOT INCLUDE ACTUAL $ COST of physical DAMAGES or restoration/rebuild costs, which should be determined. @VirginiaBiz@VASenateDems@GovernorVA#RVA
#RVA@RTDNEWS@NBC12 Judge Reilly Marchant must be re-elected in a yr by VA GA, now controlled by far left lib Dems, so his decisions are guided by his own survival instincts. Kingsport, TN native Ed Ayers made a career of trashing Virginia & it cost him presidency of UR. @CBS6
Ayers & I are peers. He started teaching history at UVA same year I started teaching chemistry at UR, 1980. He remained in academia. My path led to the real world - in industry, where I spent 20 years, &had an epiphany. Business IS the creation of wealth! @rvabizsense#RVA
I don't object to monument removal, IF done legally by due process & IN ACCORDANCE WITH The Law, not in response to emotional accusatory canards demonizing those with opposing views. That kind of cynical divisiveness is on the ballot at all levels next week. #RVA@VASupremeCt
#StoneyLied about @kimgray4rva position on Monuments since he appointed her co-chair of MonAvCommission. He approved recommendations of Commission -removeDavis , add context, & ADD statues of AfricanAmericans- The Fourteen AA union soldiers who received Medals of Honor. #RVA
I watch the #rvacouncil meetings. Kim opposed the restaurant tax which harmed these small businesses #RVA restaurants
