Hollywood Writer's End to Georgia Runoff Thread 1/14

This is a SCENARIO. This is not a FORECAST. It is a plausible end. It is one way Georgia Runoff election MIGHT end in a few weeks. If a Hollywood writer (imagine episode of West Wing) did this story. How would it end?

Secondly Georgia runoffs WILL decide whether Republicans & #MoscowMitch McTurtle can hold onto the Senate. If we win BOTH runoffs, the Senate will be 50/50 split, ties broken by Vice President which will be Kamala Harris

That initially seems like agonizing loss. Except this is West Wing.. a bizarre silver lining. If the Senate becomes 49 DEM & 51 GOP, then #MoscowMitch McTurtle would LOSE HIS POWER. He'd lose his CONTROL. He'd not be the Majority Leader

If Senator split is 49/51, then person in power would not be McTurtle

In that case the KINGMAKER becomes ... Mitt Romney

If Mitt refuses to vote for the McTurtle, all 49 DEMs vote against him, the vote is 50/50 & Kamala breaks that tie

The same is true of ALL other Republicans. John Cornyn same story, Romney won't confirm. DEMs block. Final vote 50/50, and Kamala breaks that tie too. And so forth.

If DEMs nominate ANYONE, Romney votes against those also, incl the INDs

If Romney is the tie-breaker, he can FORCE the hand. If Romney makes a deal with Chuck Schumer, and gets the 49 DEMs to vote for Romney, then with his own vote it is 50/50 and Kamala breaks the tie - for Romney. (McTurtle is out!)

The DEMs don't trust the Republicans - except just barely, barely only, they trust Romney because the Mittster voted to remove Trump from office in the Impeachment hearings. He is the only (barely) trustworthy Republican (vs Ernst etc)

What Romney the clever conniving opportunist will do, is NEGOTIATE this with the Republicans (after he has blocked the McTurtle) & before he goes to DEMs, to have GOP nominate & vote Romney in. He'd be the Kingmaker who made himself King

So if the Georgia Senate runoff elections produce a split, one DEM and one GOP Senator, in that case, Senate party split is 49/51 but it allows ONE Senator (only) to take control of the Senate. The only one who can do this is Romney

Mitt Romney would not turn into a Democrat.

He would do this all as a conservative and old-fashioned moderate Republican.

But Joe Biden can work with Romney. And Mitt can work with Democrats (he WAS governor of Massachussetts).

If the Georgia runoffs give a split, I DO think Mitt will take over the Senate from the McTurtle :-)
