Brothel advertisment per usual being super honest about what #prostitution really is: Men picking women based on ethnicity, body sizes and parts showcasing exactly why this is not a "sale of services" but systematic objectification and dehumanization all for men's pleasure.
Pimps making it too easy for me to argue my case. I tell people all the time that #prostitution is men renting access to womens bodies based on ethnicity, body sizes and hair colour for one sided pleasure which is objectively misogynistic, racist and rapey and they just admit it!
How utterly pathetic is this brothel ad? "Come here and be a true man! All men do this - dont be shy! Men were born to purchase women - just give into it!" I am disgusted. Women are not prey. Women are not toys. Men are not born abusers. Abusing women is a choice. #TimesUp
These are the kind of images brothels use to advertise women. Pure #empowerment, right? Lying in the back of a car looking passed out or dead. This is from a brothel in New Zealand, feminist capital of the world. Right? Right? Use your brains! Women don't exist for male pleasure.
New Zealand brothel owners abusing womens desperation claiming prostitution will be their exit from poverty. These are literally pimps preying on poor women and it's all legal. It's a lie of course: Most women stay poor, may even become indebted, nevermind the violence and trauma
I literally know a woman who was exploited at this exact brothel. It's all lies. Women get raped there. No one is around to protect them. They keep getting fined by the owners for things like being a few minutes late or not satisfying a "customer". "Lots of fun all the time". 😡

On International Day to End Violence Against Women In The Sex Trade, I am going to compile statistics and evidence about my country Germany specifically and how with 18 years of highly permissive laws towards brothel keepers, pimps and sex buyers we have arrived at the following:
Violence frequently starts prior to entry into the sex trade. It is not a myth that women in #prostitution are disproportionately neglected and abused physically, sexually or emotionally in childhood. According to gov-funded study half faced regular abuse: bmfsfj.de/blob/84328/0c8…
Conservative voices in Germany, too, calling to let brothels reopen during the 2nd wave of the pandemic: Because #prostitution is a hostage situation and we are offering nothing to women except to "kindly let them fuck to survive" as @HuschkeMau put it. bild.de/bild-plus/poli…
Also sick of the choice of image: Women's legs in high heels. Women are worried, desperate, some homeless and hungry and we still sexualize them. And it's not just Bild Zeitung which is cheap papers, all news outlets do this all the time! Even when women are raped or murdered.
My suggestion: When talking about #prostitution media outlets should stop using images of women's legs, breasts, and butts and instead show sex buyers! Men are the reason the trade exists, women are just trying to survive. Real pictures by @BettinaFlitner: bettinaflitner.de/freier.html?&L…
Really creepy: A number of high-ranking NGOs tasked with development work focused on children have started referring to child sexual exploitation as "child sex work". This is not rare, but a reoccurring phenomenon. And they are directly lobbied by the pro-prostitution lobby.
People hear "sex work" and they think "adult" and "consenting". In practice the term is now used for anything under the sun that involves a man getting his rocks off and someone getting paid for it. Be they adult, minor, under pimp control, literally trafficked across a border...
According to UNICEF 12-year-olds can be "sex workers"! This is so sinister and with this I can no longer extend the goodwill of "well, people are just trying to use respectful language". Money is irrelevant. An adult touching or penetrating a child is rape childhub.org/en/system/tdf/…
While parts of Germany have reopened the sex industry with supposed hygiene plans that johns are breaking left & right - in Bavaria you can still get arrested for being in a no-prostitution-zone - more police control fo that during Corona. Two Hungarian women just got arrested.
Why do we emphasize women's vulnerability in prostitution? Because we need at least to end these arrests. But if an illegal brothel is seen on par with an illegal hair salon it's harder to argue against her arrest (not that I'd be jubilant about a desperate hairdresser's arrest).
What gov should do is provide for all people. And not to overstate and argue that German poverty does not exist (it certainly does!) access to gov funds is easier if you're from here than on a potentially dubious visa from Eastern Europe. These women are exceptionally vulnerable.
Germany, 2020: Brothel owner runs for mayor of major city Stuttgart and labels prostitution and trafficking survivor (exploited in legal brothels like his) who is alarmed by his candidacy "the real victimizer of women!". We are so far beyond parody. Its throw things o'clock.
It's just classic abuser style: Inverse victim and perpetrator. Pimps are allies to women and survivors advocating for and often single handedly running exit services are a scourge!!! Of course a bunch of other pimps came to his aid and are slandering her all over the place.
Worst as ever are random women supporting him not her. Lecturing a survivor that prostitution is actually really fine and that legal brothels are totally safe (the exact places she was groomed and raped for years). We are making progress but there is still so much victim blaming.
