As an unprecedented year comes to a close and a New Year beckons, here are 🔟 global health issues WHO and our partners will focus on in 2021

👉bit.ly/2Jjxbzf
1⃣ Build global solidarity for 🌏 health security

We can only end the #COVID19 pandemic if we #ACTogether: no one is safe until everyone is safe.

WHO will work with countries to improve their own preparedness for future pandemics & health emergencies

2⃣ Speed up equitable access to safe and effective #COVID19 vaccines, tests, and treatments.

WHO will continue to work to make these tools available everywhere across the 🌎

3⃣ Making #HealthForAll a reality

#COVID19 has highlighted the urgent need to strengthen health systems & to make them available for all.

In 2021 we will roll out a new #primaryhealthcare programme alongside our UHC compendium of essential services

4⃣ Tackle health inequities
Deep social & economic disparities prevent billions of people from accessing vital health services.

WHO will help countries advance towards #HealthForAll and address factors causing these inequities

5⃣ Prioritize science and innovation and improve data quality to support better health outcomes worldwide

6⃣ Revitalize efforts to tackle communicable diseases

We’re close to finally eradicating polio but need to keep pushing. The world must also intensify efforts to end HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, and eliminate viral hepatitis by 2030.

7⃣ Combat drug resistance

Combating infectious diseases requires effective medicines💊, so it’s vital to preserve antibiotics and other antimicrobials.

In 2021 we will help countries take dynamic action to #StopDrugResistance

8⃣ Prevent and treat non-communicable diseases and #mentalhealth conditions

#COVID19 has disrupted services to #BeatNCDs and taken a serious toll on #mentalhealth. WHO will focus on getting those services to all in need.

9⃣Build back better

This year WHO launched the Manifesto for a Healthy Recovery from #COVID19

In 2021 we will keep working to create a healthier 💟, fairer ⚖️ greener world.
