OXFORD VACCINE – A THREAD👇
1/ The @MHRAgovuk have been conducting a rolling review of trial data since July.

This has allowed regulators to be agile and assess the vaccine’s safety and efficacy on a rolling basis.
2/ The chimpanzee adenoviral vector was used in the development of MERS and SARS vaccines.

Clinical trials had already proved safety and a strong immune response before COVID-19 existed 👇

bioworld.com/articles/43449…
3/ Thanks to the brilliant ingenuity of the @JennerInstitute
+ the whole team at @UniofOxford/@AstraZeneca
we have another vaccine that is safe and effective.

4/ Prof Pollard from @OxfordVacGroup explains how
it works 👇

5/ @DrEricDing from the Federation of American Scientists applauded the transparency of the @UniofOxford/@AstraZeneca group’s research.

6/ This really is an injection of hope for humanity across the globe.

The jab doesn’t require -70C freezing and is 8-10x cheaper.
7/ The @UniOfOxford / @AstraZeneca vaccine will be sold at cost to the NHS – costing less than a cup of coffee per dose.

This by @jeremycorbyn is dangerous and wrong. Free markets and capitalism are playing their part in getting us out of this crisis.

8/ Thank you again to @MattHancock, @nadhimzahawi and your dedicated team @DHSC for all the tireless work in planning to get jabs in people’s arms.
9/ Life is for more than existing.

Vaccines mean we can unlock our country.

We can get back to doing the things that have been robbed from us- simple things like giving our loved ones a simple hug.

And rebooting our economy with a fresh start.

Last week 7 North East Local Authorities including @N_landCouncil wrote to the Government requesting local action due to a rise in Coronavirus cases.

From midnight tonight, new restrictions will be in place in Northumberland to try and stop the local rise in cases.
These restrictions include:

🔴 No socialising with people outside your household (or support bubble).

🔴 Pubs and restaurants will be table service only.

🔴 Hospitality and leisure venues will need to close between 10pm – 5am.
It's still important we all continue to remember the basis:

🧼 Wash your hands

😷Cover your face in public places

↔️ Stay apart from others

Sadly the #NationalTrust is becoming a joke.

As #Hexham MP I want reform of this, once great, organisation.

A thread on:
- their redundancy plan 🪓
- their £1Billion+ assets 🆙
- and 4 yr failures of local #Northumberland treasures 🚂🚂🚂 1/ ⬇️ google.co.uk/amp/s/www.chro…
Their recent disaster is their plan to dismiss their experts 2/:

This latest approach is consistent with poor behaviour of the #NationalTrust for years, as my constituents know.

They closed #Stephenson’s birthplace in #Wylam in 2017 without any consultation + have shown no intention to reopen.

And they have over £1Billion + in the bank 3/

Sadly, just over a week ago we lost our twin boys

Teddy came and went from this world quickly and quietly. He passed peacefully. Our younger twin, Rafe, was not born until Tuesday 23, but died later that day in NeoNatal ICU.
Baby loss, and coping with grief, is very hard 1/ Quote over picture of a dar...
Nothing we could do. Just a horrible tragedy. We emerged from hospital a week ago shell shocked. We have taken some time out to recover. I am back at work part time, but bear with me. We will come through this, but will always miss our boys. Cards are fine, but pls no flowers 2/
The loss of our younger twin Rafe was particularly acute. He lived and died within a long day. But we treasure our time with him in Neonatal ICU. We were able to tell him of all our hopes and dreams for him, and our family; but he could not make it and died in Flora’s arms 3/

V serious #coronavirus approach from #PM:
“These are the only reasons you should leave your home”.
1. Shopping (as infrequently as is poss for essentials)
2. One form of exercise a day
3. Medical need
4. Travelling to/ from work
Police will have they power to enforce these 🚨1/
UK will
- close all shops selling non-essential goods, libraries, playgrounds, outdoor gyms, places of worship
- Stop gatherings in public of more than two
- Stop all social events including weddings, baptisms but not funerals 2/
PM:
“To put it simply, if too many people become seriously unwell at one time, the NHS will be unable to handle it - meaning more people are likely to die, not just from Coronavirus but from other illnesses as well. So it’s vital to slow the spread of the disease.”3/
