❤️HEARTWARMING—it was past 12am & for 90 min, he crouched down & filled half dozen trash bags. When he finished cleaning up the Capitol rotunda, he cleaned adjacent rooms. Then worked until 3am to certify the election—he had been awake for >36 hours. Who is he? Rep @AndyKimNJ 🙏
2) I had the honor to meet @RepAndyKimNJ in spring 2018 when both of us we running for Congress. I didn’t make it, but @AndyKimNJ made it. He has kindness of a Korean-American son, and the heart of a lion. (36 hours straight no sleep!!). Respect ✊🏼

BREAKING—A new #SARSCoV2 variant (aka B.1.1.248) identified by Japan 🇯🇵 in ✈️pax from Brazil 🇧🇷. This new one has both the more infectious N501Y mutation (not affect vaccine), as well as the disruptive E484K mutation that escapes neutralizing antibodies.🧵

2) Why are we so worried about this one? Because like the SA B1351 variant, this new one also has the E484K mutation. In a recent study by @jbloom_lab, E484 mutation (inside the #SARSCoV2’s spike’s critical receptor binding domain) seemed to escape neutralizing antibodies—bad. Image
3) More on the E484K mutation. Escaping neutralizing antibodies could mean some convalescent plasma, some antibody drugs, and maybe even vaccines could be disrupted a little. But need more studies to prove it

BREAKING—Ireland 🇮🇪 says the B117 #SARSCoV2 variant now accounts for 45% of all 92 samples sequences. Up from 25% last week, and up from 9% 2 weeks before that. Ireland also loosens restrictions & cases up 10x from last month & seeing surge surpassing even England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. #COVID19 ImageImage
