We are... what? Less than 48 hours from the presidential inauguration?

American Trump supporters are still convinced that he still has a master plan to remain president and punish his enemies. The true believers among his Canadian supporters feel the same way. 1/15
In short, QAnon conspiracy woo.

Now I've spent a great deal of time the last two weeks posting information about QAnon's Canadian Trump supporting adherents. I figure that we might focus a bit on a case study in radicalization. 2/15
When I was publishing articles on ARCI wrote about Ryan Mclean in relation to his membership in the anti-Muslim/anti-immigration Canadian Combat Coalition. I also may have noted that his face looks like it is putting his body to sleep because I can be, and often am, a jerk. 3/15
By the way, "multicultural" in C3 means all the colours between cream and egg shell.

And because one can basically become a leader in this movement like it is a prize in a Lucky Elephant Popcorn box, Mclean also assumed a leadership position. 4/15
Over the years it was apparent that Mclean was a sucker for every conspiracy theory he came across which meant he fell hard for QAnon. He has been promoting the byzantine conspiracy theory almost as long as he has been a member of C3. 5/15
And since the election he has continued to push QAnon talking points, including the promise be made last night. 6/15
And so, over the course of a few hours... this. 7/15
and this. 8/15
Ultimately culminating in posting a list of American and world political leaders, entertainers, business people, and others he (and other Q supporters) believe are part of the satanic pedophile cabal ruling the world as either being executed or awaiting a military tribunal. 9/15
Now you are going to ask, "Kurt, since he will see and has seen many of these people are clearly alive, he will be disabused of this delusional thinking eventually, right?"

Well, QAnon provides here a ready response because this really has become a closed system.10/15
And here we have what might be the fundamental problem and why we will be struggling with this for likely years to come.

They have been programmed to think uncritically and not to believe their lying eyes. 11/15
QAnon should perhaps be thought of now as a new religious movement in which adherent reject logic and replace it with faith, even when presented with facts that are irrefutable. They will not believe you because they exist in an alternative universe where they find comfort. 12/15
QAnon is now self-perpetuating. Though Trump is a messianic figure, he is no longer necessary for the movement to sustain itself. Some may drift away. Some may harm themselves. Others may be determined to help move the prophecies forward with a little human intervention. 13/15
It isn't going away any time soon. 14/15
Incidentally, Mclean has at times shown he is capable of doubt, though he is skeptical or denies actually real things.

He doesn't believe there is a pandemic.

He thinks vaccinations are harmful.

And, oh yeah, he believe the Holocaust didn't happen. 15/15

Despite his supporters that still exist in Canada, the Trump brand has become especially toxic in this country since he helped to foment an attack by supporters on the US Capitol on January 6. 1/25 #canpoli #CPCldr #CPC #TakeCanadaBack #cdnmedia

Conservative Party leader @erinotoole not surprisingly is trying to distance himself, though statements like "Take Canada Back" used during his leadership campaign echo the shallow populism of Trumpism. 2/25

The question arises then how much has Trumpism infected Canadian conservative politics? I know most of my conservative-voting extended family despise Trump and everything he stands for, but there are those for whom Trump is not just a hero, but a messianic figure. 3/25

So today is January 17, one of the days right-wing extremists had planned to go to all 50 state legislatures and the Capitol armed in support of Trump. Thus far I'm not seeing much of this but the day is early.

In Canada, the lead up to inauguration has been interesting. 1/14
First, Canadian Trump supporters continue to live under the delusion that Trump is the president of Canada as well. 2/14
They are also wondering why, if Biden really won, there is a need for 20,000+ troops in Washington.

I mean, that MIGHT be because the outgoing president attempted to foment a violent coup to remain in power, but I'm only guessing. 3/14

Hello dear readers, and welcome to yet another episode of "Hatriots Can't Stand Each Other".

Kyle Sizler, a QAnon supporter and member of no less than four leather vest hatriot group has claimed to be a "member of anonymous" for years. 1/10 ImageImageImage
The problem being
(1)"anonymous" isn't a club,
(2) he isn't a hacker, and oh yeah
(3) he isn't actually anonymous as we all know what he looks like! 2/10 ImageImageImage
Buying several cheaply made Guy Fawkes masks makes him as much a "member of anonymous" as I was the Lone Ranger because I had a plastic gun, plastic mask, plastic badge, and plastic straw hat when I was 5.

FYI, Zorro was always much cooler. 3/10

So considering the attempted coup currently happening in Washington DC, I figured that it might be interesting to see how far-right extremists are reacting.

I'll start with Telegram. /1 Image
In totally not surprising news, Faith Goldy is pickled tink. Probably brings fond memories of Charlottesville back to her. /2 ImageImageImageImage
Both Northern Dominion and Canada First (formerly Proud Boys) are upset that conservative politicians are denouncing the violence while also adding some antisemitism for a bit of spice. 4/ ImageImageImageImage

Another installment of "Rubes Will Believe Anything".

The Trump cult continues to be excited about the Trump rally on January 6. In fact they really believe that people have shown up en masse early. 1/4 #TrumpRallyDC #StopTheSteaI2021 #TrumpTape #TrumpMeltdown #TrumpBegged
Except no, that is a photo of the "March for Our Lives" rally in support of gun control that took place March 24, 2018 in Washington DC. 2/4

In this case, there was some push back from people who tried to tell them that this was an old photo.

The response was less than grateful. 3/4

Edmonton's own Win Nay is growing increasingly excited about the Trump rally in Washington this January 6.

He's also excited about the prospect of mass arrests of people opposed to Trump and/or civil war.

Because, you know, that's totally normal. 1/7 Image
Win is referring to what is being claimed as a 7 miles (or 11 km for the metrically inclined) convoy originating in California that is Washington DC bound in support of the outgoing president. 2/7 ImageImageImage
The same photo is being hared all over social media as irrefutable proof of the support that soon-to-be ex-president Trump really has and that these fine "patriots" will prevent Biden from assuming the office on January 20. 3/7 Image
