Moe pace of vaccine would be top 10 worldwide in Sask. was a country.
He says Sask. only trails PEI within Canada.
He says Sask. will run out of vaccine shortly at its current pace.
Moe says Sask. will have to adjust its vaccine plan in the short-term due to fewer doses being sent to the province.
Moe: “Life will get back to normal when the majority of the population is vaccinated.”
Shahab says even with reconciling active case backlog Sask. will lead country in active cases and seven-day rate.
He calls this “very concerning.”
He says current restrictions are enough to slow spread if they are followed.
Shahab says current practices need to continue through spring until we can get people vaccinated.
Says need to protect those that are vulnerable, especially seniors who have worse outcomes from the virus.
Shahab says younger people and those “who feel compelled” to attend a gathering (mentions funerals) are now driving spread.
You can have 30 people attend a funeral.
Moe asked about Sask cases averaging 300 per day and he says they have dropped from 321 to 300.
“very positive in where we are going.”
He says the number needs to keep going down.
Shahab says receiving less vaccine is not necessarily a surprise because they knew it would be slower going to start.
SHA CEO Scott Livingstone says it will adjust plans where needed.
Moe asked why if bars are found to be violation or have patrons violating or funerals causing spread - why aren’t they shut down or restricted.
He says vast majority of bars/restos following health guidelines.
Moe says he’s asked public health to look at closing “bad actors.”
Moe says he doesn’t believe we need further restrictions but need people to be unselfish and following the guidelines.
“We are not going to punish everyone for the actions of a few.”
Says again we are looking at added restrictions including closures.
Question on why individual business are not being named for violating public health orders.
No clear answer here on if it’s a privacy matter or a choice.
Moe says he has a petition from adults who want their kids to be allowed to play hockey or sports and those not complying are taking that away from them right now.
Moe: “we have faired fairly well compared to other provinces” in limiting fatalities.
Credits staff in long-term care.
Moe says measures “not insignificant.”
Says “numbers starting to stabilize.”
Dr. Shahab says hospitalization numbers and health system being overwhelmed and having to make choices on who receives care and who doesn’t is a “point of no return” which would require a “hammer” approach and trigger more strict measures.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford said today if he were in Prime Minister Trudeau's shoes he'd call Pfizer:
"I'd be up that guy's ying-yang so far with a firecracker he wouldn't know what hit him."
Moe quoted Ford and said, "I would just say if the prime minister were able to do that there would be a lineup of premiers behind that would bring a lighter to that party." #skpoli

Meili now asking if premier will declare Jan. 29 a day against hate and intolerance as was asked for by Muslim leaders who were in Sask. last week. Premier Moe says no place for Islamophobia, racism or hate of any kind. Says govt. has Jan. 29 day under consideration.
Moe says speaking out against hate and racism should happen every day. Meili asks why premier said he was not concerned with cabinet ministers attended yellow vest rallies where anti immigration and Muslim sentiments have been shared.
