Questions on 🇪🇺 and its Member States COVID 💉 strategy that need clear answers:
1️⃣ Why is the approval timetable from EMA more sluggish that elsewhere?
2️⃣ What’s the 🛑 with vaccine rollout? Lack of 💉 quick enough? No 🧊 chain? Or lack of vaccine centres & staff?

On approvals: there might be good reason. A faster approval doesn’t mean a better approval. But given the urgency the comms need to be clear and transparent.
On rollout: working out where the blocks are helps find ways to overcome them. If earlier decisions mean problems now, honestly communicating what happened and why helps.
Is this rollout the best 🇪🇺 and its Member States can do? If it is, urgent questions need answering about why this was so sluggish. If this is because of unforeseen problems, can we please know what those are?
I’m not sniping here - I’ve read so many contradictory things I don’t know what exactly is wrong and why. But something is.
Further points: if the EMA approvals process needed answers to issues others skipped over re. BioNTech/Pfizer (as per Le Monde), that’s possibly justifiable. But then communicate that somehow!
Why has the FDA not approved AZ? Because the US hasn’t procured much of it? Or because there’s reason for slower approval?
