1/7. Indonesian parliamentary hearing on #sj182 with NTSC and Ministry of Transport conducted today. Key points: 1. Pilots programmed departure waypoints and altitude restrictions on the Flight Management Computer. 2. At 9000ft, ATC instructed aircraft to halt climb at 11,000ft.
2/7. (continued): 3. Autopilot was on LNAV & VNAV mode prior to this, which is to follow the FMC. 4. Crew then changed Autopilot mode to Heading Select and Vertical Speed. 5. Aircraft then started slowly rolling to the left until aircraft ended up diving into the sea.
3/7. Several components are to be investigated further: Autothrottle Computer, Autothrottle Actuator Assembly, Ground Proximity Warning System, and the Flight Control Computer.
NTSC emphasized aircraft hit water in one piece with the engines running.
4/7. Aircraft Maintenance Log did not find any aircraft defects on the 4 previous flights on 09JAN2021 (#sj182 was 5th flight of day).
5/7. Blackboxes: #sj182 Flight Data Recorder data download successful. 370 parameters for 27 hours covering 18 flights, including SJ182. CVR memory unit still not found, the search to continue.
6/7. NTSC also reminded that various analysis in social media, citing the aircraft stalled, is incorrect. The speed of 115knots mentioned was groundspeed, not airspeed. (not NTSC, but also from @flightradar24 revealed that during climb, airspeed data, was normal)
7/7. This is based what was reported to the parliament. Some interesting points on the chain of events, which I may tweet on later.
