1. Those who do not have to #MaketheToughCall have the luxury of being sanctimonious about #PMTrudeau, upon learning of yet more #Moderna delays, going to Plan D (?!?) to access the portion #COVAX that serves as an emergency bank in exchange for the ~$440M we've put in.

#CdnPoli
2. But when you do have to #MaketheToughCall in an emergency, we all know the rule is "First secure your own mask before you help others."

We are NEVER told anything different.

#PMTrudeau is doing that which he needs to do so that we secure our own mask.

#CdnPoli
3. Why is this strategic?

Given widely varying global capacity to produce, transport, store, and administer mRNA vaccines, the more strategically these are directed to those most able to help others in places with ready infrastructure to give shots, the better.

#CdnPoli
4. At present, Guinea is the only one of the non-contributing countries to #COVAX that is delivering vaccine.

If Canada has taken 3 unexpected hits in a row; is ready, willing, and able to deliver shots; and there's stockpile not yet in use...

#CdnPoli
5. I can't imagine any world leader not accessing it.

Especially given this was done expressly in case of this type of eventuality.

Especially since our doses are coming back online more slowly than that of other nations.

#CdnPoli
6. And that is the reason for which Our Loyal Opposition Leaders are ALL tsk-tsking "Trudeau, bad!" about this but lose their courage when the: "Well, what would you do given this hand to play?" ("I never would've gotten here" is the obvious evasive play).

#CdnPoli
7. They KNOW they would've have done the same damn thing because the narrative otherwise would be: "You mean to tell us that there's emergency stockpile, THAT WE PAID INTO (!!!!), just sitting there, and Justin's just letting Canadians die??!!!"

#CdnPoli
8. Canada is a top funder of #COVAX. We have pledged long ago to donate to it our excess vaccine (a decent amount given how much we've purchased) which means we will be replenishing what we took, possibly even before it needed to be accessed.

9. Production hiccups -- especially at the beginning (or during upscaling) of the global manufacturing/distribution of new product -- are totally normal things, for which it seems we've planned.

As such, the Opposition strategy of not acting like it is, is baffling.

#CdnPoli
10. I also assume this is not where our contribution ends, but rather that once we get our pandemic relatively under control, Canada will be sending human (and more financial) resources around the world as we no longer need them, because we put our own mask on first.

1. So Campaign Research devises this polling question [notice: "vaccine manufacturers" is not an option, and given the federal government is in charge of procurement, the choices available naturally steer the answer in one direction]...

#CdnPoli #PoliticalLiteracy #medialiteracy
2. "How could this escape quality control?", you ask. "Why would a 'reputable' polling firm go out in the field with a leading question such as this?'

Perhaps because Campaign Research is run by... Image
3. Well when such a question then gets taken up by the Toronto Star, that then uses it to comment upon the Globe and Mail doing something remarkably out of the ordinary...

MUST HEAR

1. Dr. Caroline Quach-Thanh, Chair of the National Advisory Committee on Immunization, and biologist Robert Van Exan explain the vaccine acquisition, administration, and manufacturing super simply.

player.fm/1BFZshT

#CdnPoli
2. The 2 pieces of information that most stuck out for me were:

a) that it was a bit luck of the draw for which vaccines would be approved first.

Given this, being 1st to secure #Moderna and 4th to secure #Pfizer means that Minister @AnitaOakvilke did an exceptional job.
3.

b) that provinces gave the federal government a rollout plan for 300,000 vaccinations a day.

If provinces/territories have done this, then are 🐂💩 the @erinotoole "conclaims" of certain doom and gloom if vaccined arrive in bigger batches slightly later in the quarter.

1. WHEN THE CONSERVATIVES LOST ME.

I have to confess that in my early days, I was a "conservative voter".

In the first election in which I ever voted, I cast mine for @AKimCampbell.

I found her to be refreshingly honest.

#CdnPoli
2. Then, when the very first edition of the Reform Party surfaced, I liked a lot of its basic entry-level populist plans (boy, did that party ever lose its way quickly, but I digress).

In the second election in which I ever voted, that party got my vote.

#CdnPoli
3. By the early 2000s, the duo of Jean Chrétien and Paul Martin impressed me enough that I would consider voting Liberal.

Then the 2004 election came around and suddenly IT HAPPENED.

1. RE: 🔽 I CAN reveal more

I've always wanted to know what it'd be like to contribute, at a high level, to a political campaign

I've often offered my strategic political communications skills, but the rare times I got a reply, it was to stuff envelopes

2. One day, I saw someone being interviewed and thought: "I'm kind of impressed. This is the kind of person for whom it might be cool to contribute my skills, if they'd be open to it."

So I figured I'd give voice to that thought and I put it out into the universe.
3. Well, wouldn't you know... that person saw it and contacted me (!!!).

We spoke on the phone shortly after. This person was impressed and said they'd be happy to have me join the team.

Then nothing really happened for over a month.

1. #JustinTrudeau became Liberal leader in April 2013.

Ever since, it'ss been 7+ years of the @CPC_HQ feeding the basest of its base a daily diet of defamation, lies, character assassination, dehumanization, and demonization.

What did they think would be the result?

#CdnPoli
2. So...

I am saying it.

I blame @stephenharper, @AndrewScheer, and the @CPC_HQ for this.

I outright lay ALL of this directly at their feet

-2 shotguns
-1 unlicensed revolver
-1 rifle
- ALL loaded
- 1 unlicensed high-capacity magazine
- Military training
- Stated intent to kill/cause bodily harm to the PM of 🇨🇦

This is where 7+ years of @CPC_HQ #AllLiesAlltheTime #24HourRageMachine toxicity leads

@LeslynLewis @livingrealfree And now for MY thoughts...

1. This is a lie.

Being both a Dr AND a lawyer, Dr Lewis knows full well the power of words. Her sentence structure here was specifically chosen to create the false impression even one Liberal MP said "ALL Canadians (no exceptions) are racist."
@LeslynLewis @livingrealfree 2. Not only has this not been said, it hasn't even been hinted hat.

The only party putting the concept of "(ALL) Canadians are racist" out into the universe is the CPC with its 24/7 Outrage Machine.
@LeslynLewis @livingrealfree 3. It has become an instant go-to CPC play to immediately accuse the entry-level left (especially Liberal) view is: "Canada is a racist country" the very second they raise the issue of #SystemicRacism
