1. Those who do not have to #MaketheToughCall have the luxury of being sanctimonious about #PMTrudeau, upon learning of yet more #Moderna delays, going to Plan D (?!?) to access the portion #COVAX that serves as an emergency bank in exchange for the ~$440M we've put in.

2. But when you do have to #MaketheToughCall in an emergency, we all know the rule is "First secure your own mask before you help others."

We are NEVER told anything different.

#PMTrudeau is doing that which he needs to do so that we secure our own mask.

3. Why is this strategic?

Given widely varying global capacity to produce, transport, store, and administer mRNA vaccines, the more strategically these are directed to those most able to help others in places with ready infrastructure to give shots, the better.

4. At present, Guinea is the only one of the non-contributing countries to #COVAX that is delivering vaccine.

If Canada has taken 3 unexpected hits in a row; is ready, willing, and able to deliver shots; and there's stockpile not yet in use...

5. I can't imagine any world leader not accessing it.

Especially given this was done expressly in case of this type of eventuality.

Especially since our doses are coming back online more slowly than that of other nations.

6. And that is the reason for which Our Loyal Opposition Leaders are ALL tsk-tsking "Trudeau, bad!" about this but lose their courage when the: "Well, what would you do given this hand to play?" ("I never would've gotten here" is the obvious evasive play).

7. They KNOW they would've have done the same damn thing because the narrative otherwise would be: "You mean to tell us that there's emergency stockpile, THAT WE PAID INTO (!!!!), just sitting there, and Justin's just letting Canadians die??!!!"

8. Canada is a top funder of #COVAX. We have pledged long ago to donate to it our excess vaccine (a decent amount given how much we've purchased) which means we will be replenishing what we took, possibly even before it needed to be accessed.

9. Production hiccups -- especially at the beginning (or during upscaling) of the global manufacturing/distribution of new product -- are totally normal things, for which it seems we've planned.

As such, the Opposition strategy of not acting like it is, is baffling.

10. I also assume this is not where our contribution ends, but rather that once we get our pandemic relatively under control, Canada will be sending human (and more financial) resources around the world as we no longer need them, because we put our own mask on first.
