Yes, that’s right: Ronna Romney McDaniel was a freshman at my high school when I was a senior. Back when she was proud of the Romney name.
I actually graduated with George Romney, who I think is the grandson of the former Michigan Governor but I’m not sure (there’s a LOT of members of the Romney clan). I had a typing class with him. Seemed like a nice enough guy. Complained about being pressured to go into politics.
Last night I mentioned I went to high school with a couple of the Romney kids, including Ronna Romney McDaniel (RNC chair), who was a freshman when I graduated. In another odd coincidence, my wife graduated with Dana Nessel, who is now the Attorney General of Michigan...
I kept flipping through my yearbook and was curious what happened to another guy I graduated with named Jason Ruff. We had been in Cub Scouts together, and I remember him beating me for 1st place in the Pinewood Derby. I decided to look him up.
Jason went on to the College for Creative Studies & received an MFA in Architecture from Cranbrook (where Mitt Romney himself went to high school...referenced at the end of "8 Mile").
The fact that the roommate who shot him was the same age caught my interest for some reason...
"The shooter, a 50-year-old man, told police he shot Ruff after arguing with him about restrictions in place due to COVID-19, the disease caused by novel coronavirus, police said."
Now, there was *another* guy in our graduating class by the same name. I don't know if it's the same guy ("Pat Brooks" is a fairly common name), but if it is, that means one guy I graduated with shot another guy I graduated with.
This reminds me of an incident a good 25 years ago when I was a movie theater concessions manager. I had been on vacation and was on my first day back...
...only to discover two new staffers cleaning the concession stand with bleach *and* ammonia at the same time.
Here's examples of how much 8 different households could save in healthcare premiums if it becomes law. 1/ acasignups.net/21/02/04/aca-2…
IMPORTANT: The following examples are based on the *average* premium for a 2021 benchmark Silver #ACA plan. Actual savings will vary widely depending on where you live, your household makeup/ages and your household income. 2/
"YOUNG INVINCIBLE": A single 26-year old would save as much as $122/month or nearly $1,500/year compared to the current #ACA subsidy formula: 3/
⚠️ It's Official: Cumulative #COVID19 cases *AND* deaths per capita are now higher in Red Counties than in Blue Counties nationally: 1/ acasignups.net/21/02/06/weekl…
Counties w/highest cumul. #COVID19 cases per capita: 1. Crowley County, CO 2. Chattahoochee County, GA 3. Bent County, CO 4. Lincoln County, AR 5. Dewey County, SD 6. Lake County, TN 7. Norton County, KS 8. Bon Homme County, SD 9. Buffalo County, SD 10. Trousdale County, TN
2/
Fully 31% of Crowley County, CO has now tested positive for #COVID19 over the past year (1,884 out of 6,061 residents.
There's 11 counties where at least 20% of the population has tested positive, and 57 counties where at least 15% has. 3/
Remember, even if you fall outside the parameters above, ANY documented U.S. resident is ALWAYS eligible for a 60-day Special Enrollment Period if they have a qualifying life experience like losing coverage, getting married/divorced, moving, giving birth, etc.
Also, Native Americans & Alaska Natives can enroll in #ACA exchange plans year-round.
FINALLY, you can enroll in MEDICAID or CHIP year round in any state, and you can enroll in the Essential Plan, MinnesotaCare or Connector Care year round in NY, MN & MA respectively.
I've posted graphs showing how much households would save if the #ACA subsidy cliff was killed & subsidies beefed up, but those were based on an earlier subsidy table.
Assuming the #ACA survives SCOTUS *and* the #AmRescuePlan becomes law w/#KillTheCliff & #UpTheSubs, here's how much you could save based on the *average* benchmark premium price nationally. Depending on where you live, your household & income, this could vary widely. 3/
