Yaani the lawsuit against Esto has taken a whole turn.

But first, how we got here.
.
Our Esto has 3 full time employment departments.
1, Security & Safety. 2, Engineering & Technical. 3, Grounds and Works. For real, these are actual jobs.

Security and safety is more obvious.
Engineering and technical hao ndio wanakuwanga na kazi mingi na ngumu.

Mara stima.

Mara pipe ime-burst, mara mtu anataka kuoshewa gari. Sijui Kenya Power ama Nairobi Water, sijui Safaricom wanataka kuweka net... All major issues that affect the whole esto, hiyo ni yao.
Grounds do the detail work. And detail mostly ni udaku na umbea with the housies and security peeps.

But for real, their work is to also to make sure the esto is clean always, the garbage guys don’t steal the cats and the playground, live fences don't look bad when guests come.
But if you have a leak, sink imeclog, or your sauna is not working, you can call them to put it together. Broken windows, jammed doors, nini nini.

But there is a condition to this work. It must not affect the other neighbors. If so, it is escalated to the relevant department.
So anyway, in 2019, these three departments started fighting each other for power and relevance, and things would not be done because one department felt the other department should handle.

Like there’s a day we were without water because someone did not open the main esto line.
Ati because they were pissed by grounds people.

The Estate committee decided we should hire an estate manager. Which sounded like a good idea. The work of this person was essentially to make sure everyone does his or her work.

So 256 said we cannot afford it na yeye hachangi.
Akasema apewe one week na hawa watu.

Of course everyone was against it. Akaambiwa atulie.

The Estate committee was getting tired of doing management stuff and we were having unnecessary drama with cash this, works that. And then knowing 256, we knew she would finish everyone.
Haiya, the comm insisted on getting a professional.

Isitoshe, it was agreed that every house to add an additional 500 bob per month to get an estate management team. Guys were against the cost. Ikasemekana watu wanaishi kwa SQ’s pia walete kakiru.

SQ-rians revolted that story.
Watu WaSQ wakasema in the esto they are treated like third class citizens. Pesa yao tutaonea kwa ViuSasa pekee.

After consultation, it is agreed that every house must remit 500 per month, which includes the SQ persons. How they get that cash from SQ people that's their business.
That cash was coming to 150 sauzand extra for the Estate.

Committee ikasema hiyo pesa itafunguliwa account yake kivyake, but the extra’s would go to what the team would need for small small works like broken pipes and street lights. Major works zitatoka kwa Service Fee account.
Mara hiyo hiyo 256 says she wants to be in the interview committee and processes. What the committee did not do, is allow 256 or Ozband to be a signatory in that account. Ikawa ni ya Subcommittee ya Grounds. Yet another account.

Shortly, we have an estate manager as an employee.
Kwanza this lady said she worked for gava, mara NYS.

Kilikuwa kinaendesha ka Rav4 kengine kazee sana. Akaanza kazi na Vishasha. And then everyday she would report to 256.

Ala? Like this happened and that happened.

But she was extremely efficient bana. A few days in kumenyooka.
One week we are seeing the difference. She would do inventory and we’d get updates. Yeye ndio alileta ile ufala ya every gate must be the same color.

One day she goes missing.

Anyway, after 2 months in Jan 2020, we do not see her. She get’s her last salo and then it is stopped.
256 insists we just pay her but committee ya Mrs. 178 haipendagi jokiso.

And then guys stopped paying into that kitty. But 256 is doing her work and updating us.

Two months nazing. After 3 months, we are told this chic has gone incognito. That sometime in March 2020.
The Comm get’s someone from the grounds to act. 256 refuses.

Mid-April your girl appears. Ati she was on leave. Leave gani? Ati alikuwa ameambia 256 ampatie leave 256 akampatia. Akaambiwa akanyage kubwa aende zake.

She has a fight with the treasurer and she promised to sue us.
Early this week, we are served papers ati we owe this girlie a years worth of Salo, and she wants to be compensated for wrongful dismissal. And she is saying she is asking the cash from individual houses.

Alafu ikaonekana enyewe kuna watu bado walikuwa wanalipa, kama mimi hivi.
Sasa juzi at Comm meeting, 256 insists that we negotiate with her, and settle it out of court. And everyone seemed to be agreeing.

Until this morning.

108 sent us a photo of that lady. From Bobo’s wedding. She was the one giving a gift on behalf of the aunties.

256's cousins.

[PS: 108 will forever be 108. Ata aende wapi.]

Anywho, sguys jitolea what they bring ama cash pledges.

Mrs. 256 and a few others are not in this group.
On Tuesday, Mrs. 256 is added to the group.

😭😭😭

And I had said huyo Mama asiingizwe. Hawakuniskia. Kiburi tu.

She says she wants to be in charge of the women delegation, alafu she says she has a special surprise for the young man.

She also says she wants to be treasurer.
Context:

It is a tradition, (not a standing order) that if you move into the Esto, the committee organizes a special welcome / Doulos kinda orientation.

Usually a few people will visit younas soon as you move in. Alafu on the last Sunday of the month, people come with food.

The Swindlers - Coming Soon.
.
11:30pm.

This girlie opens the door of her apartment and locks it behind her. But there is some uneasiness.

Like someone else is in there. She rushes to her daughter's room, finds her asleep. Just like she left her an hour ago.
Phewx.

But she's still scared. Very scared for someone who has walked from Tamasha to Rose Avenue past 10pm.

She goes into her bedroom, gets under her blanket and whispers a prayer.

Lights off.

Kidogo, she someone breath out sloowly.

She freezes.

Her heart is in her tummy.
Her duvet is lifted slowly. That someone slides into her bed. He smells like half a man. She jumps off on the bed for the lights, but bumps into another man, who grabs her by the neck, lifts her and pins her back into her bed.

The first guy chuckles.

She begs 'Please, please.'

An Old Poem.
.
If we must ever have to write each other, it must be poems.
You must write in short sentences, using catchy phrases.
It must be in at most three verses that stand alone, but that find much deeper meaning in each other.
Nothing more than a page. Maybe slightly more.
If you should ever write me a poem, it should take my whole being into it. My mind, my heart, my body and my strength.
It must not have my name, but whoever reads it must know it is me.

It must be short and sweet, it doesn't matter how much rage is there. Sweet rage even.
It must be so discrete, not open to everyone, that someone can steal and send to their loved one. Or the one they hate.

If I should ever receive your poem, it must be about passion. Or hate. Or Anger and pain.

It must be open, straight, upright and full of integrity.

Nothing.

She tries a couple more times.

Still.

Nothing.

She chills kidogo, looking extremely calm on the outside.

An hour later, she calls again. Ala? It takes a while to connect. And then now, the nanny's phone rings funny. Like… she is out of the country.

Ai... Strange.
She tries more times nonstop. She's frantic and wants to tell nanny off.

Finally, ringing stops. Just hollow silence.

She calls a neighbor, asks her to go & angalia kwani what’s up.

Neighbor says ‘Ai. Si nilidhani mumesafiri nyote? Ukweli sijaona Margie na Kaylan for a while.’
