First I added the "citations" plug-in to read my references in BibLatex.
1. I provide a single .bib file with all references 2. Then I configure to create a YAML frontMatter based on the reference details
2/
3. I create a note for each source (automatically) or I just add the template to already existing source notes (automatic as well) - CMD + P
3/
Time to list all sources into a single place (an "Index note"?)
1. Install the "dataview" plug-in 2. Create a new note to be the Index note 3. Add a query to the YAML frontmatter 4. Enjoy your reference list ;)
4/
There is still some friction and limitations in using these third-party @obsdmd plug-ins.
"citations":
- Need to reload the bib file every time. It does not load automatically
- The bib file is not listed on the filesystem of Obsidian, needs to be updated externally
5/
"dataview":
- Field values cannot be an array, so we cannot have lists of references for a given author or for a given topi only, for instance.
The plug-in is still under development so perhaps we will see more nice stuff coming soon /6

"1. Work on your motivation. Why do you want a #PhD? " @4nn4nd4
It may help to create a mindmap of your own reasons and have it always visible. In my case, I like to write lists so I put a post-it at my computer with my top 3 to keep the motivation up.
