CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray’s welcome address at the @nasscom Technology & Leadership Forum;
It gives me immense pleasure that the state of Maharashtra is hosting the 29th Chapter of the Nasscom Technology Leadership Forum. The 3-day forum first time in 30 years is completely virtual.
It is a testament to the exponential technology adaption that has helped the world survive the pandemic. The new information technology has propelled both India and Maharashtra as technology hubs poised for growth in 2021 and beyond.
On behalf of the state of Maharashtra I welcome all technology and industry leaders, eminent speakers, futurists, and thought leaders from India and the world to this prestigious forum. My best wishes to a successful NTLF 2021.
Maharashtra is the land of opportunities & a prominent destination in India for conducting business. It is the largest economy in the country with a GDP of close to half-trillion dollars. Maharashtra contributes to 16% of country’s GDP & attracts 1/3 of FDI inflows to India.
We are determined to drive Mumbai to be one of Asia’s important hub. The 2015 IT policy has already been successful in meeting its incentive and export targets in the 5 years period. It has paved the way for strong technology footprint which will only expand in the future.
With the upcoming 2021 IT- ITES promotion policy for the state you can expect a razor sharp focus on the creation of the right ecosystem for technology companies, for innovation, research & development and close working relationship between the state and the industry.
I am proud to note that state of Maharashtra partners with Nasscom to run the 10000 start ups warehouse programme in the state. It brings the state government, incubators, academia, corporate, mentors & investors together.
The programme offers start ups with enterprises access to leading technology players like Google, Amazon, Tech Mahindra etc. Due to state of the art start up warehouses in Mumbai & Pune, in just 3 years close to 50 start ups have benefitted & employed more than 1300 people.
Encouraged by this success, we are planning to set up a large incubation centre at Mumbai in partnership with Nasscom. Under the magnetic Maharashtra 2 the state government has already taken initiative towards digital governance through platform like Mahajobs and Maha Parwana.
We aim to simplify investor’s journey by providing mega permission through a single window system & matching the right talent with the jobs by providing digital solutions.
Initiatives like plug & play, infrastructure & investor first programmes are targeted to accelerate, commencement & co-coordination of operations.
Under Magnetic Maharashtra 2 Government of Maharashtra signed 54 MOUs worth ₹1,12,939 Crore. The investors included from countries like USA, UK, Spain, Japan, Singapore & South Korea.
It gives me immense pleasure to tell you that Maharashtra‘s stronghold on the sector now expanding beyond Mumbai and Pune. The emerging hotspots within Maharashtra also include Thane, Raigad, Nagpur, Nashik and Maharashtra will soon become Tech Hub having multiple tech cities.
In the last 5 years the state’s IT sector attracted over ₹65 thousand crore of investment and generated employment for more than 8.5 lakh people. Over the last year, we have seen people and businesses pursue a new normal, resilient and connected by technology.
State government intends to use technology to facilitate ease of living and service delivery for its citizens thereby transforming there life. India is poised to grow to the next level of digital adoption in this decade.
I strongly believe that Maharashtra would be on forefront in this era of change. Finally, I urge industry leaders & companies to explore Maharashtra's technological landscape & make this state their home & preferred destination for business.
I once again congratulate @nasscom
for putting together this impressive virtual conclave. This is surely a tech decade for India & Maharashtra.
Its motto would be Think Digital, Think India, Think Magnetic Maharashtra!
Jai Hind! Jai Maharashtra!

CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray’s address to state today;
We are meeting after several days. You may be aware of the reasons for today’s meeting.
I wanted to meet you for reasons apart from Corona. But you are not at home nowadays. No one wants to sit at home for no reason, including myself. Of course, these restrictions were necessary.
In the first week of March, Maharashtra will complete a year since the first Corona patient was detected.
The other day, someone asked me about my most satisfying moment in those difficult days of the lockdown. I said it was that you all accepted me as a member of your family.
CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray’s address to the state today;
I would like to thank you all for your cooperation in not bursting crackers during Diwali and celebrating it in a disciplined manner like all other festivals.
Places of worship have reopened but let’s ensure we carry out festivities and celebrations without forming crowds.
With your cooperation, the My Family My Responsibility campaign has been successful and vital in curbing COVID-19 cases. I would like to thank all the doctors, medical staff, officers and all essential staff for their efforts and bravery in making it successful.
