Watching finance estimates. Minister Travis Toews, under questioning by @SPhillipsAB, said the "historic capital spend" announced yesterday included KXL investment. The pipeline was cancelled by U.S. president in January #ableg
Phillips has been grilling Toews over the KXL deal. UCP MLAs have made two points of order in a row. Both have been denied by chair, UCP MLA David Hanson.

MLA Bilous confirms that these points of order are eating up Phillips' questioning time. The clocks keep running #ableg
Phillips wants to know where the KXL exposure of $1.3 billion is in the actual budget documents.

Toews says there will be "additional clarity" in the year end fiscal report. (which usually comes out in the summer).

He says he is being "fully transparent" with deal. #ableg
I am also told that things are also getting rather heated during the health estimates which are also underway right now. #ableg
UCP MLA Shane Getson, who said he worked in the industry just offered "to explain how pipelines work" to @SPhillipsAB

#ableg
@SPhillipsAB Phillips was asking questions this morning about KXL.

The NDP raised a point of order, so Getson was forced to apologize and withdraw the comment. #ableg

Right now at the legislature -- the estimates for executive council, the ministry headed by Premier Jason Kenney.

NDP Leader @RachelNotley is there.
So is @jkenney #ableg
@RachelNotley @jkenney Kenney starts off with a ten-minute address talking about the ministry's estimates in the budget.

He says the new ESG office will transfer $2M and 11 FTE staff from Energy to Executive council. #ableg

I am cross-checking the list that was originally posted last spring and today's list of parks.

On Today's list, I am not seeing: Kinbrook Island Provincial Park, Kehiwin Provincial Recreation Area, Tillbrook Provincial Park... #ableg
Don't see Park Lake Provincial Park on today's list. What's going on with that? That was also on the list back in February. #ableg
My colleague @andrew_jeffrey is also checking -- he has found other omissions -- Engstrom Lake, Jumpingpound, Bleriot Ferry , Chain Lakes and Lawrence Lake. all not on today's list. #ableg

AISH recipients upset about lack of consultation on payment-date changes cbc.ca/news/canada/ed…
I spoke to people who receive AISH. They are unhappy the government didn't consult with them on payment day changes.

A spokesperson for @RajanJSaw says there were 'informal' consultations. The minister talked to "department policy experts and front-line staff." #ableg
@RajanJSaw Like my colleagues, @charlesrusnell and @jennierussell_ , I received emails that I clearly wasn't supposed to receive on this story (documented in this story).

It turns out it was the only way I was able to drill down on the fact the government didn't formally consult. #ableg

BREAKING: the ethics commissioner has responded to the NDP's letter. Marguerite Trussler says the members under investigation by the elex comissioner (like Peter Singh would be in conflict of interest) if they vote on Bill 22 #ableg
MLAs who have close associates that are being investigated by elex commissioner, or who work for them, would likely be in conflict if they vote on bill 22, Trussler says. #ableg
Another interesting part of Trussler's letter -- she says 10 members of the public have asked her to investigate the matter, stop the proceedings of Bill 22 -- or they have shared concerns with her. #ableg

Salaries for UCP political staffers have just been posted.
alberta.ca/political-sala… #ableg
Here's the tea. The UCP is listing the contracts on a biweekly basis...NDP contracts listed annual amounts. So I'm multiplying the amounts in the contracts by 26 pay periods. #ableg
Jamie Huckabay, chief of staff to the premier is making $224,120, slightly less than Notley's chief of staff Nate Rotman who made $225,000 #ableg

the UCP government has appointed new board chairs for U of C, U of A, SAIT and Mount Royal. They all seem to come from business backgrounds. #ableg
Former Edmonton city councillor Michael Phair is no longer the chair of the University of Alberta Board of Governors. He is being replaced Kate Chisholm. #ableg
This seems like a really big deal. Phair was appointed as U of A chair by the previous NDP government to replace Doug Goss. #ableg
