Salaries for UCP political staffers have just been posted.
alberta.ca/political-sala… #ableg
Here's the tea. The UCP is listing the contracts on a biweekly basis...NDP contracts listed annual amounts. So I'm multiplying the amounts in the contracts by 26 pay periods. #ableg
Jamie Huckabay, chief of staff to the premier is making $224,120, slightly less than Notley's chief of staff Nate Rotman who made $225,000 #ableg
But there is a difference in salaries for the principal secretaries. Jim Rutkowski, Notley's guy, made $195,000. Howard Anglin, Kenney's principal secretary is making the same as the chief of staff at $224,120. #ableg
David Knight Legg, the principal advisor is making $194,252. #ableg
Matt Wolf, Kenney's executive director of issues management, is making $194,246. #ableg
Premier Kenney has three assistants. Clancy Bouwman, executive assistant, and Terri Kemball, special assistant, make the same amount -- $114,556. Salary for a "junior assistant" David Hudec is not listed. #ableg
Rachel Notley had one special assistant, Parm Kahlon, who made $115,000. #ableg
There are some omissions from the list. We don't see salaries for ministerial secretaries that were posted under the previous government. #ableg
On the face of things, Kenney has more people in his office than Notley...but you can't an apples to apples comparison as governments arrange staff in different ways. #ableg
At first glance, the salaries are more or less within the same range from the previous government. Howard Anglin is the outlier as he is being paid as much as Kenney's chief of staff, and $29,000 more than his NDP predecessor Jim Rutkowski. #ableg
Anyhow, need to put up a quick web file. Will take a closer look after that. #ableg
Internet tip. If you want to compare salaries from the previous government, take the URL of alberta.ca/political-sala… and paste it in the URL field of the Internet Wayback Machine. You can check the site capture from Apr. 15, 2019, the day before the election. #ableg
Also the reason we are not seeing the contracts of some staffers (like press secretaries) is that their salaries are below the GOA disclosure threshold of $111,395. #ableg
