Let's define 'bodily autonomy,' with the assumption that it is even a right. THREAD 1/
#ProLife

If BA existed, that would mean at best, it is a negative right against being compelled to enter a situation that encroaches upon autonomy. "Enter" is being the key word since it...
2/
...would be a negative right against being being deprived. However, like any other right, it can be voluntarily given up. When it is voluntarily given up, then the BA negative right is no longer applicable.
As a result, bodily autonomy is not a freestanding right to create...
3/
...a situation of dependence and then abandon their duties or harm dependents. For example, helicopter pilot cannot kick out passengers mid-flight or fly dangerously.
This is because they are past the point where a claim of bodily autonomy applies.

Think of it like this:
...
4/
Imagine you have a real estate owner. That owner has full rights over their property. They can use their property how they like, with respect to the rights of others. They can choose to rent out their property. However, once they enter lease agreement, they have duties...
5/
...that must be fulfilled and because they voluntarily leased out their property, they have surrendered significant property rights over to the tenant for a period of time.
With this principle, banning abortion is not a violation of bodily autonomy since there is no claim.
...
6/
This is we can't be compelled to ENTER a duty of care or contractual relationship (whether written or social contract). That's what a claimed right of BA protects, just like any other right such as property rights.
However, once someone enters that duty / contract, they...
7/
...have surrendered any claim of autonomy.

Some prochoice might say 'but they didn't chose to get pregnant.'

Youd literally have to successfully argue that the mother couldn't have known she'd get pregnant or was reasonable for her to believe that she would not get pregnant.
8/
For a TL;DR, bodily autonomy is a negative right against being compelled into a contractual relationship or duty of care, not a freestanding right to end that relationship or abandon that duty of care whenever they subjectively decide.
Therefore, banning abortion is not a violation of bodily autonomy, or personal autonomy, even if we believed BA is a right.

Let's put the so-called "abortion bodily rights argument" to shame.
You've probably heard the saying, "even if the unborn are human beings, they dont have the right to be there without consent." Here is why that is false.

Thread:

#ProLife #ProLifeGeneration #prochoice

A child does not need a parent's consent to have the right to a parent's care. You create human life, you are responsible for human life. Even if you didn't deliberately create it, you're responsible for children when you are the only means of support or care.
3/

If somebody drops a baby in your house and your response is "out of my house, I don't consent to you being there" and you throw the baby away in a blinding snowstorm, you would be liable to criminal prosecution on numerous levels.

Who here is tired of hearing the #prochoice argument?
"You're in a fertility clinic with only enough time to save 100 embryos or a child."

In this thread, here is why that argument is not valid from any perspective.
#ProLife

2/
Imagine you're a first responder to an emergency like the one mentioned in the scenario above. If the inferno is so great that you could only pick one to save, then it is not likely you be sent into the building, due to risk of structural collapse. cdc.gov/niosh/docs/wp-…
3/
But, let's just hypothetically ignore those CDC guidelines.

In that case, you would not be sent alone. You would be sent with a full team. The standard procedure is to go into a building with at least a five-person team.

Anyone tired of hearing parasite comparisons from #prochoice'rs?
Read this thread for an effective rebuttal on how to refute this assertion with science and logic.

2/
Let's first understand the logic being applied by the pro choicers.
Their argument is that "because it is growing inside the pregnant person, it is therefore parasite."
3/
Citing one textbook titled, General Parasitology, by Thomas Cheng, it is clear that parasites, by definition, require heterospecific relationships. That means they have to be different species.

How to refute bodily autonomy in this thread below.
#ProLife
2/
First, let's understand what bodily autonomy is.
Bodily autonomy originally refers to “self governance”. The ability and "right" to do what we want to with our body.
If we're going to assume bodily autonomy is a right, then let's treat it like other rights.
...
3/
As a right, just like any other right, bodily autonomy is a "restricted" right, for at least two reasons:
1. Other people’s rights supersede our “right to autonomy”, like the right to life, freedom of expression, property. This way, no one can cannot do with their...

Anyone tired the pro abortion lobby claiming that "pregnancy is more dangerous"? Read this thread for an effective rebuttal.
#ProLife

...
2/
One first needs to examine the origin of that claim, which is 2012 study (linked below) which found that there's "8.8 deaths per 100,000 live births," and "0.6 deaths per 100,000 abortions." Sounds scary, right? ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22270271
3/
Except it's flawed. Notice that it deliberately changes the variables? It changes from comparing to live births to comparisons per abortions. That is one way how to manufacture a statistic, that while is not false, is designed to lead the reader to a false conclusion.
