Anyone tired the pro abortion lobby claiming that "pregnancy is more dangerous"? Read this thread for an effective rebuttal.

One first needs to examine the origin of that claim, which is 2012 study (linked below) which found that there's "8.8 deaths per 100,000 live births," and "0.6 deaths per 100,000 abortions." Sounds scary, right? ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22270271
Except it's flawed. Notice that it deliberately changes the variables? It changes from comparing to live births to comparisons per abortions. That is one way how to manufacture a statistic, that while is not false, is designed to lead the reader to a false conclusion.
Second reason why it's not valid:
When approached by the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ) with this very question, the CDC responded as follows, as per page 10 of the pdf in this court filing:
findlawimages.com/efile/supreme/…
...
"The maternal mortality rate is computed as all maternal deaths per 100,000 live births. In contrast, the measure used for abortions is a case-fatality rate which is computed per 100,000 legal abortions. These measures are conceptually different and are used by CDC for..."
"...for different public health purposes."
In other words, these measures are incomparable. Maternal mortality is determined by deaths per live births, not pregnancies, while abortion mortality is determined by deaths per abortions. It's comparing apples to oranges.
...
Third reason why that claim is not valid:
While maternal death statistics following live births are highly accurate, abortion death statistics are not. An abortion-related death may even be reported as a maternal death to hide the true cause.
...
In other words, the data they used in the study was not likely to be accurate to start with. Consider these factors.
A) Abortion reporting is not required by federal law and many states do not report abortion-related deaths to the CDC.
B) deaths due to medical and surgical
...
... treatments are reported under the complication of the procedure (e.g., infection) rather than the treatment (e.g., induced abortion).
C) Many people leave abortion clinics within hours of the procedure and go to hospital emergency rooms if there are complications.
...
D) Suicides that stemmed from having an abortion are not reported as being related to abortion.
That's the third reason why that study is not accurate.

Then, it's time to counter that information. There was a study done in Finland (linked below) which completely refutes that 2012 study.

When you read that study from Finland, it becomes obvious that abortion is way more dangerous than pregnancy.
