(1) Below is the 12/4/16 thread being talked about in 2021. She hasn't yet resigned & will prob end up deleting the tweets so take screenshots. Mine are dated 12/5/16 bc timezones.

Also, her racism appears in many other tweets from recent years. Here's how to find them.
(2) Paste this into the Twitter search field: Asian from:AliMCollins

Replace "Asian" with any other term you want to find, eg AAPI.

It's also a great way to find your own tweets, or anyone else's. I wouldn't be able to find mine without it.
(3) IDC about the San Fran school board or similar bodies. I just like finding examples of rank hypocrisy, dishonesty, and/or bigotry in general, whether it's on the political left or right.

I'm no longer in a political "tribe" such as pro-MAGA, anti-MAGA etc. Long story...
(4) I have only been a fan of Liz Cheney for a few months, and I have her and Dick Cheney in my current profile pic mainly because it messes with people's heads, which is a good thing.

What I oppose the most now is GROUPTHINK.
(5) Groupthink has taken over people's lives, on the left & the right.

I used to willingly join a tribe in order to have a set of beliefs on which others had done the work of developing & describing.

Now I gladly do it myself, despite the unpopularity & greater work involved.
(6) Maybe I'm getting better at knowing what my values are. Whatever it is, I write about it here, helping me "process" national & international current events.

The pandemic, & political changes, are going to continue for as long as they continue. Nothing we can do about it.
(7) It has been extremely refreshing for me to step back, review and, where needed, change my opinion on many things in recent months. On some issues I am returning to long-held views. The older we get, the more we realize how long is the list of things we do not know.
(8) Christopher Hitchens was one of the public figures for whom I had and have the most respect. It's a pretty short list, these days.

When I start missing him, I remember this quote. It renews my motivation to engage with the world.
(9) This quote informs my inner world, which, by the way, is the only one I can control. Plenty of groups are trying to shut down free inquiry out there. I say let them.

I'm responsible for my "locus of control." Maybe this, after all, is what "freedom" really means?

(1) As a hurricane watcher (amateur, from behind a screen) I take an interest in other disaster types like earthquake, tsunami, & volcano.

International media coverage of the #Fagradalsfjall eruption in Iceland misses the mark a bit. Here's why.
(2) I see this phenomenon all the time, whenever New Zealand has an earthquake, tsunami or volcanic eruption.

Few in the media are trained in the responsible reporting of such disasters. They aim for clicks & ratings with little regard for public safety (anywhere.)
(3) Emergency Management Agencies (EMAs) usually issue media guidance & I've read such materials produced by the USA's FEMA.gov (the largest EMA in the world.) Unfortunately FEMA's website redesign makes it hard to find them now, but I'll add links below later on.

(1) Here's a link to my thread about Trump getting the Covid vax himself in Jan 2021 and trying to keep that a secret so as not to alienate the anti-vaxxer faction within his fanbase.

Now about some of the headlines today:
(2) Biden said "President Harris" and SO WHAT. No one cares. That is, no serious person.

I don't think those who voted for Biden did so bc he's an energetic, inspiring leader for them.

They did it to get rid of Trump. And, after seeing his sore loser routine, I now see why!
(3) I support conservative policies so, from early 2016 to late 2020, Trump represented the best chance of seeing those policies implemented. And if he had behaved like an adult after 11/3/20, the #PostTrumpGOP would have a decent chance of doing well in the midterms and 2024.

This would be funny if it wasn't so close to the truth. Many times in past yr, Trump has shown by his actions, omissions &, sometimes, his actual words, that he is at best indifferent to otherwise preventable deaths.

eg Failing to deploy enough DCNG for the known threat on 1/6.
And for those quibbling about the cause of each death linked to 1/6:

The Trump supporter who was trampled by the crowd as they pushed through a line of USCP in riot gear outside the Capitol is (so far) the clearest case.

That line was the key place where security failed.
Trump apologists disregard whatever you say after quoting 5 deaths "caused by" the rioting. They have swallowed the lie that no rioter "murdered" anyone, esp. Officer Brian Sicknick.

The investigation into his death is ONGOING, folks. Nothing was disproven by anyone so far.

(1) Thread: Military women.

Even when I was a Trump supporter I didn't have much time for this under achieving trust fund kid. Like DJT, Don Jr continues to say and do things that damage the GOP.
(2) Former President Trump has lost the support of many Americans, esp. where LEOs and military are concerned.

He did not have their back on 1/6. He, like all of us, knew that political violence was likely that day, and he did absolutely nothing to try to prevent or reduce it. Image
(3) Tucker's comments about women in the military were monumentally stupid. Women are allowed to enlist and, as such, their uniforms should fit properly, especially life-saving body armor. Most military personnel are not in combat zones most, let alone all of the time.

(1) Actor Stacey Dash spoke to the Daily Mail & as per usual the far left are calling her the Devil incarnate no matter what she says, & the far right (aka the Trump faction of the GOP) don't like her now, either.

As a radical centrist, I get her.

dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9…
(2) Pretty much the whole DM article takes Dash's words & twists them so far from what she said that it's pointless to read them.

Just read HER words.

She's right to call the 1/6 riot "appalling and stupid." Many MAGA public figures said that day "enough is enough."
(3) Stacey Dash is never getting off of that Hollywood blacklist but I'm sure she thought about that before her #WalkAway from Democrats in 2012.

Yes, 2012. The first Obama term was all she could take. Like many others, Trump had nothing to with her change of party support.

(1) After decades of studying & working in politics, I finally realized it's better to have a leader who is a team player than someone who goes it alone.

That's essentially what Trump did, esp. during the 2020-2021 transition. He took advice from the wrong people.
(2) Trump's refusal to take sane legal and political advice in the last 6 months or so is #WhyYouGotBiden.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be comfortable about a Biden-Harris White House, but I am. And here's why:
(3) The framers designed a system with a plethora of checks and balances. In January 2021 the system worked.

Congress was able to ensure the election result would stand. Eventually.

The framers gave Congress more power than the President. Don't believe me? Okay.
