A young footballer got hit in his groin by a kick. He started having severe pain and swelling in his scrotum.
He was rushed into the emergency room and wheeled straight into the theatre for a surgery to save his testis. He had testicular torsion.

Testicular torsion happens when your testicle rotates, twisting your spermatic cord (the tube which contains the vessels that bring blood to your testis).
This leads to reduced blood flow to the testis, causing sudden and often severe pain, redness and swelling.
Symptoms of testicular torsion
1. Sudden, severe scrotal pain 2. Scrotal swelling 3. Lower tummy pain 4. Nausea and vomiting 5. Frequent peeing 6. Feeling feverish 7. Abnormal positioning of your testicle: usually higher than normal or at an unusual angle
What causes testicular torsion?
1. Vigorous physical exercise 2. Injury to the testis e.g. from a football kick or a direct strike on the testis 3. Common in extremely cold temperatures 4. Rapid growth of the testicles during puberty 5. It may even happen while you're asleep
Things that make you more likely to have testicular torsion
1. Being 12 to 18 years old 2. Having a previous testicular torsion that was not treated. e.g. you had repeated pain in the testicle which went away untreated during exercise 3. If testicular torsion runs in your family
How to treat testicular torsion
It needs EMERGENCY SURGERY!
Rush to theatre!
If operated fast enough, your testicles can be saved.
But if blood flow has been cut off for too long, your testicle might get so damaged that it has to be removed (orchidectomy), risking infertility.
How to prevent testicular torsion
1. If men in your family inherit the trait of having testicles that can rotate in the scrotum, the only way to prevent torsion is to have a surgery to attach your testicles to the inside of your scrotum. 2. Protect your testicles from kicks.
A lot of men who may have had testicular torsion but never treated it properly are currently at risk of infertility due to the damage done to their testes.
What your urine colour says about your health and what you should do

Urine colour often depends on 5 things:
• what you eat
• the medications you’re taking
• how much water your drink
• disease conditions, &
• exercise
You should be concerned if the colour of your pee is significantly abnormal.
Clear urine (clear as sweat)
It means you might have:
• Taken excess fluids (over-hydration).
So you need to drink a little less. Although hydration is good, drinking excess water when you are already well-hydrated can make you lose electrolytes from your body.
9 causes of low sperm count/quality you should know
1. Infections 2. Varicocele 3. Heat & Stress 4. Drugs 5. Being too fat 6. Hormones 7. Other medical issues 8. Alcohol & smoking 9. Chemicals

Low sperm count or #oligospermia means the semen a man ejaculates during an orgasm contains fewer sperm than normal. Medically, it means having less than 15 million sperm in 1ml of your semen.
If there's no sperm at all in your semen, it is called #azoospermia.
Having low sperm count significantly lowers your chances of being able to impregnate a woman.
Many families have been torn apart because of the resulting infertility.
Unfortunately, in some cases, people erroneously think the cause of the infertility is the woman.
Vaginal discharge that is whitish, thick, cheesy, or feels like yogurt, is often due to yeast infection or vulvovaginal candidiasis. You can treat it at home.

Yeast infection of the vagina or vulvovaginal candidiasis can happen when the healthy yeast which usually lives in your vagina grows out of control.
9 out of every 10 women will have a yeast infection at some point in their life.
What causes yeast infection?
1. Abusing antibiotics: this lowers the amount of #lactobacillus (the good bacteria in the vagina) allowing the yeast to outgrow 2. Douching 3. Hormone imbalance 4. Weak immune system e.g. diabetes, stress, lack of sleep, pregnancy, cancer, HIV/AIDS
Although research is still ongoing in this area, there is current evidence that banana contains the enzyme bromelain, while avocado contains zinc, both of which are believed to increase testosterone production.
In addition, avocado is rich in vitamin E which improves sperm quality.
