2. Light yellow
3. Dark yellow
4. Light pink/bright red
5. Dark brown
6. Green/blue
7. Orange
8. Purple
9. Cloudy or murky

A thread 🧵

RT for awareness
Urine colour often depends on 5 things:

• what you eat
• the medications you’re taking
• how much water your drink
• disease conditions, &
• exercise

You should be concerned if the colour of your pee is significantly abnormal.
Clear urine (clear as sweat)

It means you might have:
• Taken excess fluids (over-hydration).

So you need to drink a little less. Although hydration is good, drinking excess water when you are already well-hydrated can make you lose electrolytes from your body.
Light yellow/amber urine

It means you might have:
• Drunk enough water and your body is well-hydrated

This is the normal color of the pee of most healthy individuals. Continue drinking water at the current amount. No need to increase or decrease.
Dark yellow urine

It means you might have:
• Taken excess B vitamins
• Been dehydrated e.g. when more than 8 hours have passed since your last drink of water

Drink some water, consider limiting dehydrating foods and drinks, and check the medications you're talking.
Light pink/bright red urine

It means you might have:
• Eaten reddish foods e.g blueberries
• Taken pills e.g Rifampicin
• Blood in your pee (haematuria) due to
- prostate problems
- kidney stones
- cancer of the bladder or kidney, etc

See your doctor for possible evaluation
Dark brown or cola-coloured urine

It means you might have:
• Severe dehydration
• Done excess exercise
• Taken some drugs like phenytoin, Flagyl, chloroquine, etc
• Eaten fava beans, aloe, or rhubarb
• Some liver or kidney problems

Drink lots of water and see your doctor
Green/blue urine

It means you might have:
• Taken dyes
• Taken drugs like phenols
• Blue diaper syndrome (familial benign hypercalcemia) a disorder in which the children have blue urine.
• Infection with the germ Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

See a doctor for possible checks.
Orange urine

It means you might have:
• Been dehydrated
• Taken multivitamins
• Eaten yellowish foods e.g. carrots
• Urinary infection (UTI)
• If you have light-colored stool too, it may indicate a problem with your liver or bile.

Drink water and see your doctor for checks
Purple urine: might be due to a medical condition called Porphyria.

Cloudy or murky urine: might be due to urinary tract infections.

In both cases, see your doctor for a proper medical check-up.

A young footballer got hit in his groin by a kick. He started having severe pain and swelling in his scrotum.

He was rushed into the emergency room and wheeled straight into the theatre for a surgery to save his testis. He had testicular torsion.

A thread 🧵

{RT for awareness}
Testicular torsion happens when your testicle rotates, twisting your spermatic cord (the tube which contains the vessels that bring blood to your testis).

This leads to reduced blood flow to the testis, causing sudden and often severe pain, redness and swelling.
Symptoms of testicular torsion

1. Sudden, severe scrotal pain
2. Scrotal swelling
3. Lower tummy pain
4. Nausea and vomiting
5. Frequent peeing
6. Feeling feverish
7. Abnormal positioning of your testicle: usually higher than normal or at an unusual angle

9 causes of low sperm count/quality you should know

1. Infections
2. Varicocele
3. Heat & Stress
4. Drugs
5. Being too fat
6. Hormones
7. Other medical issues
8. Alcohol & smoking
9. Chemicals

Low sperm count or #oligospermia means the semen a man ejaculates during an orgasm contains fewer sperm than normal. Medically, it means having less than 15 million sperm in 1ml of your semen.

If there's no sperm at all in your semen, it is called #azoospermia.
Having low sperm count significantly lowers your chances of being able to impregnate a woman.

Many families have been torn apart because of the resulting infertility.

Unfortunately, in some cases, people erroneously think the cause of the infertility is the woman.

HOW TO TREAT YEAST INFECTION AT HOME

Vaginal discharge that is whitish, thick, cheesy, or feels like yogurt, is often due to yeast infection or vulvovaginal candidiasis. You can treat it at home.

A thread 🧵

Please RT for awareness Image
Yeast infection of the vagina or vulvovaginal candidiasis can happen when the healthy yeast which usually lives in your vagina grows out of control.

9 out of every 10 women will have a yeast infection at some point in their life.
What causes yeast infection?

1.  Abusing antibiotics: this lowers the amount of #lactobacillus (the good bacteria in the vagina) allowing the yeast to outgrow
2.  Douching
3.  Hormone imbalance
4.  Weak immune system e.g. diabetes, stress, lack of sleep, pregnancy, cancer, HIV/AIDS

A woman's hymen can not tell you much about her virginity. Stop depending on it to judge if she's a virgin or not.

{RT for public awareness!}
The hymen is a membrane covering the vagina opening. Its shape and size varies in people.

It normally doesn't cover the vaginal opening completely to allow discharges/menstrual flow to pass through.

If imperfonate (covers vagina completely), surgery is done to open it up a bit
In many cultures, however, people believe that once a woman's hymen is torn, she's been "disvirgined'

They also believe that when a woman is deflowered, she must bleed from the vagina to show that her hymen has broken (which proves her virginity).

In most cases, both are false!

A thread 🧵

RT for awareness
There are 2 main types of stroke;

1. #Ischemic stroke: due to blockage of a blood vessel in the brain

These 8 factors can make you more likely to have stroke

1. High blood pressure: No. 1
2. Obesity

Men, eat bananas and avocados. They increase male hormone (testosterone) production, and boost your libido.

{RT for men on your TL}

#HealthFirst
Although research is still ongoing in this area, there is current evidence that banana contains the enzyme bromelain, while avocado contains zinc, both of which are believed to increase testosterone production.
In addition, avocado is rich in vitamin E which improves sperm quality.
