The COVID-19 pandemic paralysed our lives for the last one year. While many of us were confined to our homes during lockdowns, the frontline workers played a life-saving role in fighting against the pandemic. Many of these warriors have been recognised and honoured with awards.

But this 33-year-old man from Mysuru decided to pay a tribute to them in a different way. Bharath P N embarked on a 'Walk for Humanity' journey- a tribute to the frontline workers, for their efforts and selfless service.

"I was just home-bound, like everyone else amid the nationwide lockdown. I watched the television daily and saw how these frontline workers were out, risking their lives and rendering their services on a daily basis.

It was this time that I realised the importance of giving back to society and took on this mission in honour of not just the frontline workers but everyone who took an initiative to step out and help others," Bharath told The Logical Indian.

He started his journey on December 11, 2020, from Kanyakumari, to reach the final destination, Jammu and Kashmir, covering more than 4,000 km on foot. He walked around 45-50 km every day on highways, covering eleven states in 99 days.

The 33-year-old fitness enthusiast covered states including Punjab, Haryana and Maharashtra. Along the way of raising awareness and conveying gratitude, Bharath also planted over 150 saplings to spread environmental consciousness.

Road and rail traffic was disrupted in several parts of #punjab and #Haryana during the 12- hr #BharatBandh called by farmers on March 26 to protest against the three controversial farm laws.

In other parts of the country, there was partial response to the bandh.

Farmers blocked national highways and other major roads at several places in Punjab and Haryana. They squatted on railway tracks at several locations.

A railway spokesperson said four Shatabdi trains were cancelled, 35 other passenger trains were detained and the movement of 40 goods trains was affected by the protests.

With a single day spike of 36, 902 COVID-19 cases, the Maharashtra government has imposed a night curfew across the state starting from Sunday, March 28.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has ordered all the authorities to “strictly enforce” night curfew rules so that the transmission of COVID-19 is contained in the state.

Shopping malls will be closed from 8 pm to 7 am, the order said.

Nalin Yadav, a co-accused comedian in the case of standup comedian Munawar Faruqui, has quit his passion to make people laugh and now works as a daily wage labourer earning ₹200 per day.

Yadav, who recently came out on interim bail, was arrested along with Faruqui and five others for allegedly "insulting Hindu deities" during a show in Indore on the night of January 1.

The 57 days which he spent in jail turned his life upside down. He went from being a famous comedian in Indore to working as a labourer in an industrial area in Pithampur of Dhar district.

Nearly 15 fashion companies, including high-end brands, are lagging in meeting their environmental, sustainability, and social targets of the Paris climate agreement and US Sustainable Development Goals, revealed a new report by The Business of Fashion.

The report released on Monday, March 22, publicly disclosed information from the five biggest companies by revenue in three categories - luxury, sportswear and high-street fashion.

These included Hermès, Moët Hennessy, Louis Vuitton (LVMH), H&M, Adidas etc.

On May 23, 2013, Chhota Devi from Rajasthan was married off when she was just 14-year-old. She faced threats from her husband and in-laws, was terrorised by caste-panchayat and was thrown out of the house by her parents. She also had to drop out of college following a scare.

Eventually, Devi learned to work at a ticket counter of a cinema hall. Almost eight years later, a local court in Jodhpur last week finally nullified her child marriage with Mahendra Sihag.

According to Devi, now 21, Sihag is 'a good for nothing drunkard'. Devi said she does not know Sihag's exact age but recalls that he was around 23 back in 2013.

The Opposition #Mahagathbandhan MLAs in #Bihar observed a statewide Bandh on March 26 to protest against forceful eviction of opposition MLAs from the assembly when they were agitating against the police bill two days back.

The Mahagathbandhan parties, which include the CPI (Communist Party of India), CPI(M), and CPI(ML), announced their support to the farmer unions' call for a Bharat Bandh against the farm laws and joined the #BiharBandh

On Thursday, Rashtriya Janata Dal MLA and Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, had called for Bihar Bandh on March 26 in protest and said the day would be observed as a "black day".
