Glencore's activities are under investigation in dozens of countries & since the 1970s they have played a role in everything from illegal CIA operations, UN programs, Russian arms deals, and bribery of dictators & politicians on a global scale.

The founder of Glencore, Marc Rich, was infamously pardoned by Bill Clinton on his final day in office to sabotage the prosecutions of Rich & his enablers by the Republican lead DOJ.

This is another in a long string of prosecutions since 2014 for bankers & institutional traders manipulating markets for fun & profit. Markets for oil, foreign currency, stocks, bonds, metals, & everything in between have been rigged by the insiders to steal money from others.

Glencore & others have used a process to impoverish 3rd world countries by financing oil infrastructure to be paid back with future oil sales to Glencore. If that is who the sellers were, manipulating the prices down would keep the countries in debt longer.

Because the trades at the end of the day get adjusted to this unknown Platts price, the sellers would have thought they were getting $245 a ton & when they got the receipt they only got paid $204. I think this may explain why those countries are having trouble with their oil debt

I did a thread on these prepayment for oil loans have been bankrupting countries around the world. Glencore is only one of the companies involved in this practice.

It's like pay-day-loans for corrupt dictators with their people being stuck paying the bill

They even have a role in the Russian Collusion story. Carter Page was alleged to be getting a giant commission for helping sell a portion of Russian oil company Rosneft. While it was actually Glencore that was engineering that sale, not Carter Page.
