40 years ago on March 30, 1981, a bullet changed the course of U.S. history.

White House Press Sec Jim Brady was shot in the head when a gunman tried to kill President Reagan. Jim was paralyzed. But he used the tragedy to take on the NRA & change our nation's gun laws.

The news that day falsely reported that Jim Brady was dead. It's not hard to undertand why — the scene itself was gruesome, and Jim's injury was near fatal.

BREAKING: In a huge blow to the NRA, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit ruled that there is no right to carry firearms — either openly or concealed in public.

This is much-needed good news following recent high-profile gun massacres in Atlanta and Boulder.

We at @bradybuzz were proud to submit an amicus in this case. Its 9th Circuit ruling dismisses the NRA's "more guns everywhere agenda."

It rejects the NRA's dangerous argument that the Second Amendment entitles virtually 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 to carry guns virtually 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚.
This we know: The majority of Americans — including gun owners — support common-sense gun reform measures.

More than 90% of Americans want sensible gun laws.

OK, let's talk about a "well-regulated militia."

The NRA used to have the text of just the second half of the Second Amendment emblazoned across their Virginia headquarters.

So why this Second Amendment erasure?

For decades, the NRA has tried to mislead people into thinking the Second Amendment has nothing to do with a "well-regulated militia."

...But that's why the Framers added the 2A to the Constitution.

In ratifying the Second Amendment, the Founding Fathers never intended to design an America where a right to shoot and kill overcomes the right to live. #GunReformNow
Guns don’t help further any aspect of public life.

They don't belong in grocery stores
They don't belong at state capitols
They don't belong at pollings places
They don't belong in places of worship
They don't belong in schools

What we're seeing in America is the gun lobby vision of the Second Amendment. They misinterpret the Constitution to entitle (white) civilians to walk the streets with AR-15s. In their view, the right to firearms trumps the right to live. #GunReformNow #GunControlNow @bradybuzz

It was 21 years ago today that Pres. @BillClinton dedicated the @WhiteHouse Press Room for Jim — who honored his country both as a Press Secretary and as an advocate for gun violence prevention.
Even after being shot and nearly killed, Jim was relentless in his quest to save others from gun violence. He and Sarah wouldn’t stop until action was taken.
