If you notice the date, you'll see this is an essay I posted 12 January 2019. It was my 2nd commentary on Sun Tzu verses, taken from the John Minford translation.
2) Before we go any further, let me urge you to purchase this particular translation, no matter how many others you may already own. And if you're just getting started, this is the best introductory version as well, and by far.
3) When re-reading my commentary on chapter 1 verse 2, this morning, it was surprising how well it stands. I hope you'll agree. Here, 2 years later, we can see the very power of the left described there, and also China's current power in the same vein.
4) There is a premise that forced me to commence and complete about 290 such commentaries in 2019 before the daily practice broke me, a bit. In November 2019 I had to take a break, and in 2020 I turned to analyzing the daily battle for election itself.
5) When I suspended the project, I promised I'd return and complete it after the election. It's taken me till now to be ready to begin. Ha! I'm not actually beginning again right now. I'm warming up. I hope you'll warm up to the coming completion too.
6) When you read Sun Tzu, you rapidly find that there are two characters in the story. There are the King and his General. For our purposes, the King must be our local County Sheriff, and the General must be his civilian friend, the one we're calling the County Soul.
7) Let's begin. Sun Tzu 1: 2 introduces the Five Fundamentals. We'll discuss them in general, next, and then commence application. Here they are:
1) The Way 2) Heaven 3) Earth 4) Command 5) Discipline
8) Master Sun follows these Five Fundamentals throughout all 13 chapters of his treatise. One way to read the entire book would be to seek the fundamental factor in each and every verse. This form of reading is what I hope you'll learn to do in your everyday real world.
9) Although Minford makes Master Sun's guidance as easy to understand as it possibly can be, the book is still a great challenge. Far more difficult is take these ancient thoughts and apply in real life. But the benefit is so great, it's worth vastly more than the effort.
10) The greatest key to unlock Master Sun's wisdom is right here in verse 2. As with the Holy Bible, the book of Genesis, once mastered opens up every other book, so also chapter 1 of The Art Of War. It is chapter 1 for a reason. It is the beginning, the starting point.
11) The very next verses, 3 - 8, explain these Five Factors as their exclusive focus. I don't memorize things verbatim. If I did, I would absolutely memorize these 7 verses, and keep them in mind while reading the rest of chapter 1. You get the idea!
12) In driving toward application, with apology, I have to introduce another book. No, it's not on the required reading list, but only through massive discipline in keeping the list down to ONLY 12 titles. Here it is:
13) The title: Tao Te Ching, could well be translated as: The Classic Of The Way, or just, The Book Of The Way. And yes, The Way of this ancient text is precisely the same Way as Master Sun's. Perhaps you can see the benefit.
14) In our project, I won't assume you're reading this book, nor will I quote from it. I'll stick as tightly as possible to just our 12 titles. But I will explain Master Sun's work with Master Lao's wisdom inspiring the help I offer you.
15) As is my want, I've studied around 50 translations of Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching, and end up returning to Mitchell's translation, well, always. I share that as I have to give this one final link on point. It's an extraordinary resource!
16) The Way. The famous Tao. What is it? In the first place, it cannot be defined. Yeah. I know. But it can be described, sought, and strangely enough understood to some degree, felt, even surrendered to. For religious folk, God's Will might be a good starting analogy.
17) For scientific minded folk, we might turn to Isaac Newton and his famous 3 Laws of Motion. Gravity is the name we give to the force attracting matter to matter. It's how gasses clump up into stars and planets, and why big things are spherical.
18) Confession. I converse with Master Sun in my mind as if he were alive and my personal master. Kate hates it when I talk about this, and wishes I'd just keep it to myself. I can't. You'll have to get used to that. I'm not really a normal person.
19) After Master Sun and I discussed Newton's Laws, his face got stone cold and he quizzed me. What IS gravity? You're just describing what it does, but what IS it? And, if you answer me that, then tell me what CAUSES gravity. By that point he had to break out laughing.
20) Master Sun knows that I would pass with a perfect score by saying, no, we have NO idea what gravity actually IS, and as to what causes gravity, there can be no other answer than the Tao, it is the Way of our universe. It is a starting point. Things clump. Attraction is.
21) Here science and religion may combine as two sides of the one coin of the human mind's search. What if God's will for you is precisely what the best part of your soul is most passionately attracted to? What if God's will pulls you as gravity draws matter toward matter?
22) What if God's will the proper orbit for you to traverse allowing God's love to be the star you circle? Okay, can we use the word ellipse as a verb? Remember, Kepler showed us that, and Kepler was one of Newton's greatest influences. Ha!
23) In building your friendship with your sheriff, there is a law that equals Newton's, and stands as his Way. It is the Constitution, and most especially the Bill of Rights. A Constitutional Sheriff has learned The Way for your county. He lives by its strictures and guidance.
24) The Way includes the fact of both good and evil, we can verify that in the first chapters of the Book of Genesis, and also in the Gospels of the New Testament. The way, the truth and the light do battle with the darkness, the lies, the evils of this world.
25) Our sheriffs must be servants of the light, and they require our help to be so. They must be empowered to face and fight the darkness within our very own counties across this land. If you would help them, show them The Way. Help them learn to apply it every day.
26) Do you know what a distributed project is? The open-source community that builds free software operates in this manner. Complex software requires multiple programmers to code. These projects must be managed and receive the benefit of sometime thousands of programmers.
27) Wikipedia is another excellent example. I hope to inspire just such a project for our 3,083 counties. I believe we need an action guide, a manual if you will, on How To Enforce America's Constitution at the County Level. I can't imagine one person being able to write it.
28) Remember, Master Sun's King is matched, analogically, by each County Sheriff, and a Sheriff's Way is the Constitution. This project must absolutely attract attorneys in its completion, but attorneys alone could never be sufficient for our purposes. Why not?
29) The Law must become a living truth, written as our founder's intended it to be, on the mind and heart of every citizen. This is what we must achieve for each county in our nation. Laymen, civilians in every sense must be included in our manual's creation.
30) Tomorrow, we'll turn to the 2nd Fundamental, Heaven. We'll uncover how understanding Heaven opens up our understanding of The Way and leads to our understanding of Earth. The Five Fundamentals will empower us to retake our nation, giving it a new birth.
Thread ends at #30.
What is your soul most passionately drawn toward? What is the gravity that creates the righteous orbit of your life? What is your way? What is The Way?
Who remembers Peter Sellers in the 1966 film, After The Fox? Not many I’ll bet, but it’s simply the perfect intro to today’s topic, as set up by a fantastic analysis we’ll turn to right now.
2) In the film, Peter Sellers portrays a brilliant, if hilarious thief called The Fox, as he is a master of disguise and trickery. Last month, the always profound historian Niall Ferguson deems the US to be a Fox in foreign policy.
3) If you decide to read Ferguson's analysis, you have to be ready to push yourself to read both between and underneath the lines. I believe he's a true conservative living behind enemy lines where he has to pretend RINO bonafides. I know, complicated set of ideas there...
Dan Scavino has a channel at Telegram, here’s something he posted there, yesterday. It doesn't say anything about Q, but there's a strong tie we'll discuss in a moment.
2) A friend of mine shared this in a Telegram group I'm a member of, and I'd have found it interesting on its own. Thing is, the tie to Q is actually very strong, indeed. Let's look at the key point...
3) "...Trump will reclaim the throne soon and a lot of people will be gone for the good of our country, starting with Biden and the ones who are pulling the strings."
It's surprising that, in serving local patriots, ramping up our study and preparation for the battle we must wage, the topic of grief keeps resurfacing. But I think I may know why the reading list causes this effect for many.
2) Truth is, it is impossible to calculate or measure what's been lost. The obvious part is a stolen, landslide election. But it goes so much farther than that. To my own eye, I now divide America into two stages:
America I: 1776 - 2020
America II: 2021 - Unknown
3) I'll explain how I feel this grief in relationship to my own studies and preparations in a moment. First, I want to go slowly over Ecclesiastes 3: 1 - 8. Each verse will be its own tweet next.
Yesterday, we completed introductions to all 12 books on the list. Today we're going to discuss intense studying, a type of extraordinary ownership.
2) As I read book 3, The Office of the Sheriff - A History, a vision struck me. I saw a civilian citizen of the county who dedicated himself to being a true friend to the sheriff, and thereby to the county itself. I know the power of just one friend.
3) If you were following along, you worked through various attacks on the challenge until the current reading list clarified itself. It kind of arose, if that makes sense. Now that we've completed the introductions, a new question arises.
#12 Common Sense – Because Benghazi and Other Reasons
Looking through my books, Common Sense did not jump off the shelf at me this morning. An inkling formed. Sure enough. All his works are now on my Kindle for just $.99. Not even a dollar. Awesome!
2) I've shared that it was Ron Paul who introduced me to Bastiat. I don't remember exactly how reading Bastiat threw me back to Common Sense, but it did. I do remember Benghazi. Do you remember how "Because Benghazi" became a point of scorn?
3) I'm embarrassed to confess I supported McCain in '08 and Romney in '12. That is, until Romney failed his duty over Benghazi. Romney's instinct was right. He called it out the moment it occurred. Then the Obama people called him on the carpet and he capitulated.
Where Alinsky - #10 - is hard to read, my own and @KateScopelliti’s book is hard to introduce. I have struggled with promoting our book. And yet, our book is critically important.
2) To understand our book, you need to watch a Trump rally. Grand Rapids, Michigan, the early morning hours of November 8, 2016. Trump has perfected his message in every possible way. He has perfected the MAGA message.
3) The art of the rally. Who remembers that the media tried to tell us that Trump rallies would NOT generate votes? Oh, they said, anyone can go to a rally and be entertained. Will they vote? Of course not, we were told. Rallies don't generate votes, we were told.
