Ebube Agụ, like Amotekun, won't fix the broken security architecture in Alaigbo.
For the umpteenth time, I advise Governors under the aegis of @NGFSecretariat to sue for the urgent Decentralisation of @PoliceNG into 37 Independent State Police & 774 Local Police Departments.
2/ Similarly, militia groups such as the Eastern Security Network (ESN) formed by @MaziNnamdiKanu can't fix the broken security architecture in Alaigbo. Such window gives rise to the formations of more militia groups by politicians & non-State actors.
Alaigbo will surely boil.
3/ Pending Decentralisation of @PoliceNG, Ag. @PoliceNG IG, Alkali Baba Usman must rid all roadways in Alaigbo of Police Roadblocks/Checkpoints which block the free flow of human/vehicular traffic; promote corruption, extortion, arbitrary arrests & police brutalities.
A 2020 report by Int’l Society for Civil Liberties & Rule of Law, says rogue personnels, at gunpoints, extorted N306b at roadblocks between (August 2015-October 2019) across SE & SS.
5/ As at April 2020, there were 73,726 inmates held across Nigeria's prisons. 51,983 (70%), are held without trial. Only 22, 773 've been convicted.
Urgent change is needed, as these #UGM hitting prisons, roadblocks of extortions in Alaigbo might be obeying Malcolm X's quote👇
6/ On October 11, 2020, in a thread, I advised the @PoliceNG authorities to dismantle all illegal roadblocks/checkpoints of extortion across Nigeria's roadways, highlighting how the Police in saner climes make traffic stops.
7/ By Global Best Practices, effective policing is achieved via Community Policing, Intelligence Gathering, Motorised Surveillance, Tech, etc. Roadblocks/Checkpoints mounted by men & officers of @PoliceNG, etc, are needless. They fester #Extortion, #Corruption & #PoliceBrutality.
8/ END- The Fulani Herdsmen menace snowballing into another civil war, gave rise to Amotekun, Ebube Agu, ESN, etc.
If Nigerians feel this Federation is still beneficial, simply:
1. Ban Open Grazing 2. Decentralise @PoliceNG into 37 State Police & 774 Local Police Depts. #Shalom
2/ In several threads, I've continued to advocate for a #CompetitiveMediaIndustry in today's Nigeria
As it operates in the U.S., Nigeria, particularly, during the First Republic (1960-1966), had a #CompetitiveMediaIndustry, when the Media leaned towards Political Parties.
3/ Nigeria's First Republic (1960-1966) had newspapers like the West African Pilot which leaned towards Nnamdi Azikiwe's National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC); @nigeriantribune which leaned towards Obafemi Awolowo's Action Group (AG)...
Yesterday, @AriyoAristotle gave a scoop on the behemoth against the smooth passage of a clean #ElectoralBill towards a clean 2023 polls. The last 24hours, one had expected vehement reactions against SP Ahmad Lawan & his led @NGRSenate, zilch.
Today is March 30, 2021, but feelers from @nassnigeria, indicate the @DrAhmadLawan-led @NGRSenate ain't committed towards a clean elections in 2023.
3/ Irrespective of the political leaning, a clean #AmendedElectoralAct should concern you. Such Act should:
- Allow @inecnigeria call for nominations at least 360days to election & submission of candidates lists not later than 6months. This solves pre-election litigation issues.
2/ Since Jan 22, 2021 that joint taskforce of @HQNigerianArmy, @PoliceNG & DSS invaded Orlu & its environs abducting innocent men & women, with 9 now being charged for murder, how many Igbo Politicians, paid with tax payers money- Govs, Senators, Reps, etc have reacted?
3/ NONE! I've reached out to SE Senators to intervene on the @PoliceNG incarceration of innocent Umuigbo, but zilch.
Dear @MaziNnamdiKanu, conceding that ESN is a security stop-gap, it needs the legitimacy of law. Will cowards masquerading as leaders in Alaigbo support you? NO!
This is 2021. @NigeriaGov, @elrufai, other State Govs & LG Chairs must realise there are essential Roadway Signs, Traffic Signals, Pavement Markings which come with road constructions.
WAY FORWARD
Decentralise @FRSCNigeria. Let all 36 States + Abuja develop their own Road Rules.
FG, @kfayemi-led NGF & LG chairs should stop behaving like illiterates. Build roads with:
- Deep, Closed Drainages
- Walkways
- Streetlights
- Regulatory Signs: e.g., One Way, Stop Sign.
- Warning Signs: e.g., Pedestrian Crosswalk, School Signs
- Guide Signs: e.g. Route Markers
#DAY42: March 5, 2021 is exactly 42 days since Rev. Paulinus Offor, presiding minister HPICC, Umudim-Okporo, Orlu LGA, Imo State was abducted by @PoliceNG authorities.
@Govhopeuzodinma & CP Nasiru Mohammed should unconditionally release this innocent man to his church & family.
2/ Rev Offor was abducted when a joint taskforce of the 34 Brigade, Owerri; 302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha & the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response wrongly invaded HPICC Okporo during its morning devotion, on Friday, Jan 22, 2021.
3/ In search of ESN, the taskforce in what was an intelligence error invaded HPICC, Okporo Jan 22. The team lead acknowledged this error, asking for a ceasefire. 42days after, why is Imo CP Nasiru Mohammed still incarcerating Rev. Offor, mulling to charge him on trump-up charges?
SEARCH FOR JUSTICE?
Dear @Govhopeuzodinma, you're aware of d Jan 22, 2021 invasion of Jude Okporo's church in Okporo, leading to the abduction, illegal incarceration of Rev Paulinus Offor. Offor is an innocent man, not a terrorist nor murderer as alleged by the State & @PoliceNG.
2/ Since the 1960s, Jude Okporo's church has contributed largely to the spiritual, economic growth & development of Imo State, & Nigeria at large.
Dear @Govhopeuzodinma, do use your good offices to secure the immediate release of Rev Offor. The wrong place was invaded on Jan 22.
3/ I'm aware Personnel of the 34 Brigade, Owerri; 302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha, as well as the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team acknowledged they invaded the wrong place on the said day. If that was the case, Rev Offor shouldn't be incarcerated till date.
