LIVE: Cops at the Brooklyn Center, MN police department just declared an unlawful assembly where protesters outraged by tonight's police shooting of Duante Wright have been gathering
#DuanteWright's mother spoke earlier in the night at the protest of her son's killing saying how Duante was on his way to get a car wash and apparently was pulled over because there was air freshener in the rear view mirror.
Officers just fired a volley of tear gas canisters at the crowd of protesters calling out today’s police killing of Duante Wright in Minnesota.
It only seems mildly effective as the crowd moved back slightly but hasn’t dispersed. At least one arrest.
Officers in riot gear are now moving to expand their perimeter outside the Brooklyn Center police station.
Here’s a look at some of the tear gas shot at protesters upset about the #DuanteWright killing - manufactured by the police munitions profiteer company Defense Technology
Defense Technology police munitions have been noted in use at various violent protest crackdowns in the USA, including North Dakota police vs the #NoDAPL movement at Standing Rock in 2016: unicornriot.ninja/2016/anonymous…
A military veteran spoke with us tonight saying how he served in Iraq and Afghanistan, among other places, "just to come back and still be harassed by the same system that I fought for."
A journalist wearing a PRESS vest was just shot in the chest w riot munitions by police in Brooklyn Center. They seem ok.
More information re Defense Technology products can also be found in a riot police training manual we obtained in 2016. FEMA's Center for Domestic Preparedness trains PDs around the US in these munitions:
CORRECTION: The name of the deceased killed by officers in Brooklyn Center is Daunte Wright. We misspelled his name in previous tweets and regret the error.

Police are trying to tell media specifically that they have to leave the area, while they issue dispersal orders the crowd. Large militant crowd telling officers where they can stick it
“Media and press you must leave the area. Media and press you must leave the area now” -Minnesota State Patrol orders reporters to cease documentation of their actions towards #DaunteWright protesters.
Court has begun but the jury isn't in yet - Cahill is discussing "the admissibility of body worn camera" (BWC) video.
The state objects to showing the jury part of the video, says it shows an officer running George Floyd's info in the squad car and the BWC video captured it
The video also contains a bunch of hearsay statements without capturing the main incident in question, MN Asst AG Frank tells the court. Asks for this info to be redacted and for "hearsay" portions to be excluded.
An officer over a speaker is citing the 7 PM curfew telling the crowd to disperse and telling the “media to assemble” at an assigned point
Another dispersal order met with jeers and boos from the crowd...”if you fail to disperse you will be placed under arrest” (last night they made a point to say “this includes the media” after the arrest bit, that doesn’t seem to be in rotation rn)
The court is going through some motions about possible witness testimony. Right now one of the state attorney's, Schleicher, is asking for an expert to come in and decipher who said what in the videos.
Nelson is objecting to the witness because he thinks the jury should be able to figure that out for themselves. The judge agrees with Nelson by saying that the video speaks for itself.
