An officer over a speaker is citing the 7 PM curfew telling the crowd to disperse and telling the “media to assemble” at an assigned point
Another dispersal order met with jeers and boos from the crowd...”if you fail to disperse you will be placed under arrest” (last night they made a point to say “this includes the media” after the arrest bit, that doesn’t seem to be in rotation rn)
Some in the crowd outside the Brooklyn Center police station are using leaf blowers to push away gas from police munitions
Some of the police munitions are being fired right over the apartment buildings across from the station
A look at some of the riot weapons being repeatedly by Brooklyn Center officers tonight - some made by Safariland/Defense Technology as well as Combined Systems
A large formation of Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) troopers (outside the fence where the Brooklyn Center officer are holed up) is moving in on protesters with batons now: twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…
At least one arrest just now
Officers getting more aggressive with people now, many protesters refusing to back down and openly challenging the troopers trying to disperse them.
Minnesota State Patrol advances north on Humboldt Ave up to Brooklyn Center PD entrance / fencing, sweep along apartment buildings, make arrest grabs
State's outline marked in white on new design - crisp enough to make out the Northwest Angle
Tense situation intensifies
The Brooklyn Center officers on the speaker earlier had told the media to go to 67th and Humboldt - which is where we are now, and the state troopers on scene don't seem aware that media was told they could be here and are clearing the block
One state trooper in camo SWAT gear crouches ready to shoot riot munitions at the crowd while other troopers stand by with batons. Some water bottles, milk, and an apple have been seen thrown at officers. Another arrest was just thwarted when the crowd wrestled someone away
Officers spray more pepper spray, which was quickly met with a glass bottle from the crowd
Some shopping carts and other items have appeared as impromptu barricades which officers have to move aside as they advance
A line of MSP reinforcements marching towards the police line now
An armored vehicle advancing to support the MSP riot line as well
After several arrests as state patrol riot line advances, a trooper aims his munitions launcher directly at the driver or a vehicle that seemed to be trying to leave
The line currently advancing is made up of both Minnesota State Patrol troopers and Conservation Officers from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources
Minnesota's Department of Natural Resources isn't just into forestry - during the #GeorgeFloyd uprising last year they were repeatedly using their aviation fleet to rush tear gas refill deliveries from out of state to officers brutalizing the Twin Cities
Stand-off at the Pump & Munch continues, the troopers have gained some ground.
SWAT humvee from a sheriff’s dept- can’t quite make out which county
Temperature is dropping, protest crowd has thinned but not dispersed entirely
Minnesota State Patrol SUV has a Long Range Acoustic Device mounted on its front (LRAD for short - its a powerful sonic weapon first used by the military in Iraq, also used often as a sound system for officers to bark orders at crowds)
Brooklyn Park (note: not the the same as as Brooklyn Center) SWAT team is out here
Trying to see what department an armored vehicle is from but an officer manning the vehicle keeps shining his strong light directly into our camera operator’s lens to blind his view.
A few more forceful arrests just now after a smaller group of protesters broke off from the remaining crowd and crossed the street to approach the riot line outside the gas station
A MN DNR Conservation Officer appeared to briefly detain our reporter and seemed to threaten him with arrest because of the light being used so our camera can see at night. Seems like we are good to continue for streaming
Some gunshots heard in the background (likely being fired into the air a few blocks away) and also an officer in riot gear that we saw appeared to have been hit with some rocks that were thrown.
More arrests taking place - other SWAT officers with guns out are combing through a residential parking lot
Our stream is done for tonight, thanks everyone for watching and sharing. We’ll be streaming Day 24 of the #DerekChauvinTrial tomorrow around 8-9 AM when court resumes.
We’re able to do this thanks to everyone who spreads our content and/or donates: unicornriot.ninja/donate
Seems like during the course of tonight’s stream, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) identified the cop who shot and killed #DaunteWright as Officer Kim Potter, a 20+ year department veteran who is also head of the Brooklyn Center Police Officer’s Association.
Officials state there was 40 arrests from protests tonight and at least 11 during unrest. Video shows many police and troopers waiting outside the Sally port of the downtown minneapolis jail, likely to process folks arrested during protests or unrest.

Last night’s police operation against #DaunteWright protesters was run by the Hennepin County sheriff, according to the mayor of Brooklyn Center in a presser just now.
During the #NoDAPL movement at Standing Rock, Hennepin County sent a force of deputies that was the vanguard of some of the more brutal attacks on water protectors: unicornriot.ninja/2016/police-mi…
Day 25 coverage of the Derek Chauvin trial in Minneapolis is starting now - please tune in! twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…
Nelson requested an acquittal this morning, which Judge Cahill denied. Now the court is going over Morries Hall's potential testimony.
Hall's attorney is arguing that all of the questions that the defense wants to ask Hall could incriminate him, so he "cannot answer any of those questions."
Police are trying to tell media specifically that they have to leave the area, while they issue dispersal orders the crowd. Large militant crowd telling officers where they can stick it
“Media and press you must leave the area. Media and press you must leave the area now” -Minnesota State Patrol orders reporters to cease documentation of their actions towards #DaunteWright protesters.
Court has begun but the jury isn't in yet - Cahill is discussing "the admissibility of body worn camera" (BWC) video.
The state objects to showing the jury part of the video, says it shows an officer running George Floyd's info in the squad car and the BWC video captured it
The video also contains a bunch of hearsay statements without capturing the main incident in question, MN Asst AG Frank tells the court. Asks for this info to be redacted and for "hearsay" portions to be excluded.
