Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, Govind Mathur would be retiring today.

Follow updates from his Farewell Ovation which would be scheduled through Video conferencing. The event will be commencing from 2:30 PM.

The event begins.

All the sitting judges of Allahabad High Court have joined the meeting.

This is very first time that a virtual farewell has been organized by the Allahabad High Court.

Adv. Shashi Prakash Krishna addressing to CJ: "I have never witnessed that your Lordship have ever lost his temper during court proceedings and you always guide the young advocates through out if there is any negligence on their part."

Advocate General now beings his address: "This is the first time in the history of our High Court that we are bidding farewell. I also wish Mathur CJ a speedy recovery who is also (like me) fighting against the virus."

Chief Justice Govind Mathur:

"I find Allahabad and Lucknow as my new home, but the truth is I have to go back to my Motherland."

CJ Mathur: "It's just a matter on chance that I share my birthday with Bharat Ratan, Dr. B.R. Amedbar. I heard his name first time in Maharashtra, one day I saw his picture of B.R. Ambedkar who was introduced to me as God of Gareeb and since then he is a God of Gareeb for me."

Chief Justice Mathur: "This court is mostly criticized for most pendency, no doubt pendency exists. But as a CJ, disposal of cases in this court in this court is much more higher than anymore country but the pendency is to be compared with influx of cases."

Chief Justice: I am personally thankful to CM Yogi Adityanath for always keeping the words.. "The biggest gift of the government of Uttar Pradesh to this city (Prayagraj) is National Law University at Prayagraj."

In last one year, I recieved unprecedented support from lawyers, staff of the HC. When National lockdown was announced, and on May 8, a decision was taken to open the District Court in hybrid manner and later HC in June.

"In any circumstances, this court can work effectively"

Justice Govind Mathur: Each and every staff member of this court has discharged his duty. Including my driver, protocol section officer and even my Jamadaar.

"But unfortunately, my one Jamadaar died last year in an accident. My condolences with his family."

"I lost my parents in very young age. Elders of my family supported me and that is the reason I am here."

Referring to her wife, CJ:

"Whatever shape I have acquired is because of her, and her support to me is precious."

Chief Justice Mathur:

"Whether I failed or succeeded, is for all of you to judge I bow hand with reference, I submit with reverence myself to your judgement. Thank you All."
