For the 4th night in a row, protesters furious at Officer Kim Potter’s killing of unarmed 20-year-old #DaunteWright have moved to surround the Brooklyn Center police station.
The LEOs seen so far on our stream spraying chemicals through the fence are Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office deputies in riot gear.
In a press conference today, Brooklyn Center Mayor Mike Elliott denied responsibility for some of the more controversial aspects of the police crackdown on #DaunteWright protests.
Mayor Elliott indicated the Hennepin sheriff was actually in charge and not under his control.

Kim Potter, the (now former) officer who killed #DaunteWright, was arrested on a second-degree manslaughter charge today. She was released today after posting $100,00 bond.
Police are keeping protesters arrested last night on a 36 hour hold - meaning they have already served more jail time than #DaunteWright’s killer.
Kim Potter was allowed to post bond but many of the #DaunteWright protesters picked up on minor charges last night have been prevented from being able to be bonded out.
The Hennepin County sheriff’s office just declared the #DaunteWright protest at the police station to be an unlawful assembly. It was a woman speaking on the police microphone this time, it had been a man’s voice on every previous night.
An officer wearing a tactical headset aims his weapon at the #DaunteWright protest crowd from the upper hatch of a military-style armored vehicle
One person among the protesters is being treated by medics and appears seriously injured. We watched them fall suddenly to the ground from a standing position minutes ago when they were shot with police munitions through the fence
Another police formation outside the security fence outside Brooklyn Center PD appears to be moving into flank, and possibly surround and mass arrest, the #DuanteWright protesters
This Hennepin County Sheriff’s deputy has an “inert blast” grenade hanging off his vest ready to throw
You can learn about the police training for these kinds of weapons, and the type of mass tactics officers will be using tonight, here: unicornriot.ninja/2016/trumps-fe…
We’ve lost track of how many rounds the Hennepin Sheriff has shot through the fence during the #DaunteWright protest tonight. Definitely dozens, likely hundreds, of projectiles fired
Spent impact marker rounds fired at protesters and media litter the street outside the Brooklyn Center police station.
More police munitions being fired through the fence w more regularity
At least a dozen fired off in the last 30 secs
More rounds being fired faster and faster with multiple officers spraying pepper spray through the fence as well now
The deputies/officers are now coordinating to unload their pepper spray canisters onto the crowd simultaneously.
A cameraperson’s camera lens was just struck with a munition as well
A lock bearing the name of Kobe Heisler, killed by Brooklyn Center cops in 2019, hangs on the security fence in front of police firing munitions and pepper spray at #DaunteWright protesters.
Before she killed #DaunteWright, Kim Potter was involved in covering up Heisler’s death.
Law enforcement sound systems repeat the previous unlawful assembly boilerplate language from earlier, read by Lt. Johnson of HCSO. Another police voice then also invoked the curfew order to tell “all personnel” to leave the area. Many protesters haven’t budged
Another line of police (not the deputies/officers inside the fence) is moving closer towards the protest down Humboldt
A TV least several dozen protesters using overlapping umbrella group tactics, as well as some makeshift barricades, are continuing to hold space near the police fence as officers shoot and spray through the chain link.
Another line of state troopers advancing much closer now
Conservation Officers (MN DNR) and state troopers (Mn State Patrol) moving in in the hundreds down the street now, outnumbers protesters retreating
Difficult to estimate how many cops are out. Hundreds for sure. A public expenditure of significant magnitude, with officers likely raking in lucrative overtime.
“They’re bullying us”, one local protester says
National Guard mobilizing in the apartment complex parking lot
Conservation Officers are arresting a man with a camera who says he’s a journalist
Residents of the apartment complex bisected by riot police formations are unable to get into their homes, asking officers to let them in to no avail
Several officers just rushed forward to make sudden arrests, throwing people down to the ground. Another larger group of officers runs in to reinforce the arrest area after the arresting officers make their move.
Officers are shining strobing flashlights in the windows of homes in the apartment complex as they walk through the complex confronting pedestrians
Many complex residents are standing by their windows watching
About ten officers surround a lone person in a car and pull them out and arrest
Officers raise their weapons to aim at cars down the road as they approach
There are 3 tactical’d-out men riding on top of this Bearcat
An apartment resident holding her baby was finally able to pass through a line of national guard trucks and riot shields to be able to access her home.

Our reporter Niko was just detained by police but was released
The officers who detained Niko took his microphone out of his hand and threw it into some trees where he found it after being released. It appears officers took the mic lapel flag as a souvenir because it was gone from the mic when it was recovered.
Another reporter who was taken by police and then released also picked up what they called “scraps” of various cords and parts of their gear that they recovered scattered on the side of the street and in the grass
This is the state that equipment belonging to our reporter as well as other media was left in by officers who arrested and harassed journalists only to release them a few mins later.
Last night’s police operation against #DaunteWright protesters was run by the Hennepin County sheriff, according to the mayor of Brooklyn Center in a presser just now.
During the #NoDAPL movement at Standing Rock, Hennepin County sent a force of deputies that was the vanguard of some of the more brutal attacks on water protectors: unicornriot.ninja/2016/police-mi…
Day 25 coverage of the Derek Chauvin trial in Minneapolis is starting now - please tune in! twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…
Nelson requested an acquittal this morning, which Judge Cahill denied. Now the court is going over Morries Hall's potential testimony.
Hall's attorney is arguing that all of the questions that the defense wants to ask Hall could incriminate him, so he "cannot answer any of those questions."
Police are trying to tell media specifically that they have to leave the area, while they issue dispersal orders the crowd. Large militant crowd telling officers where they can stick it
“Media and press you must leave the area. Media and press you must leave the area now” -Minnesota State Patrol orders reporters to cease documentation of their actions towards #DaunteWright protesters.
Court has begun but the jury isn't in yet - Cahill is discussing "the admissibility of body worn camera" (BWC) video.
The state objects to showing the jury part of the video, says it shows an officer running George Floyd's info in the squad car and the BWC video captured it
The video also contains a bunch of hearsay statements without capturing the main incident in question, MN Asst AG Frank tells the court. Asks for this info to be redacted and for "hearsay" portions to be excluded.
