On every level from Climate change to tax haven policy, China & Russia only by US & Europe working together can real progress be made.
There is no other option.
But for UK to be fully signed on to this requires it be fully supportive of the EUs survival, influence & success.

Much as Brits might demur: the UK during the Johnson premiership was effectively in a coalition with Trump & to a certain extent Russia.
It’s now gone to actively seeking to replace the EU to..well its unclear.

Of course some here have completely lost faith in UK. But I find it hard to imagine any UK govt being both anti EU AND anti US.
So perhaps best answer is:
UKs ruling elite simply doesn’t know what it wants right now.
Brexit has turned into a bad answer to the wrong question.

But at the same time almost the entire media/political ruling elite are, in some way at least, committed to it.
A Biden/Harris 2nd term would effectively spell the end of Brexit “as a project” and confirm it merely as a costly weight to mitigate & painfully overcome.

So as always I think we’ll wing it.
If Biden looks to really bring back some normality & Trump looks gone as an option by 2022/3...then the “slow march back” to the EU may well begin.

Then everything is in play - particularly in 2026 EU-UK review.
The 2024 election is the most important in decades.
Don’t screw it up out of vanity.
It’s far too important for that.
